I bought an item from Toronto canada and I live in Brampton, just a city over. would standard international still take 2-4 weeks to arrive or would it come sooner because the locations are so close?

International Standard Shipping within canada

Everything looks legit... the Seller has 100% feedback.

The Canadian Seller is actually listing on eBay.com in USD. Standard International Shipping is correct.

The Seller's handling time is 3 days after receiving cleared payment. If you sent a cleared payment on Friday (and not a e-cheque) the seller has until next Wednesday to ship your item.

Just be patient, if the Seller hasn't marked the item as shipped by Wednesday then send the Seller a message (as long as your payment is cleared and not pending).

Shipping shouldn't be classified as Standard International but should be classified as Domestic Shipping within Canada and should take 3-4 days (7 days at the most).

Are you sure the Seller is from Toronto? or even Canada?

What is your last estimated delivery date?

You have up to 30 days after the last estimated delivery date to file a Item-Not-Received (INR) claim with eBay.

You have 180 days after the date of sale to file a Item-Not-Received (INR) claim with PayPal.

Is the Canadian Seller listing on eBay.com in USD? Then Standard International Shipping to Canada would apply.

the seller is from Toronto canada, the seller lists prices in Canadian dollars and I bought the item on Friday from the Canadian ebay site. and I have no shipping information as of yet, except it is free Standard International Shipping. I'm just confused as to if the shipping method would still be considered International and take just as long say, if it were coming from China, even though it is just shipping between cities

If the Seller is in Canada and is listing on eBay.ca in CDN then Domestic Shipping should apply.

What is the "item number" of your purchase?

When you are shopping on eBay CANADA, all the listings that can be shipped to Canada will show on Search and the prices will be in loonies.

But the seller could be anywhere in the world.

If he is listing on his home site, when you look at the listing, you will see the price in his currency AND in loonies.

And, as in this case, the seller is in Canada, but listing in US dollars.

His primary market is the USA. Well, they are 10x our size.

All the eBay sites are set up like this.

And a seller who will be shipping from outside that country uses International as the default shipping.

If you ever are puzzled by  listing, there is a Contact Buyer option. Scroll right down to the bottom and it is in tiny blue letters on the left.

Do this BEFORE bidding.

As others have explained, "Standard International Shipping" is the choice the seller must use, but these are only word choices provided by eBay.  Since you are both in Canada, the seller must ship through Canada Post, or use a courier service such as UPS.  If it qualifies for lettermail, the standard postal service is 4-7 business days by Canada Post.  If it is a parcel, all postal parcels are now trackable and delivery should be within 5 business days.  UPS or other delivery service should be comparable or faster. Since you are close geographically, delivery could be faster.  Much depends on the sorting and routing.  For example, I live in south central Ontario, closer to Toronto than Montreal, and routinely have parcels to Montreal delivered in 1 business day, while Toronto takes 3 days.
