Can a seller up the shipping charges mid auction?

An auction I'm bidding on just had the shipping charges increased.

The method is the same, listing it as International Priority shipping to Canada.

Thanks

Unfortunately, yes.

But you can retract the bid:

Do these words appear on the listing?

Customs services and international tracking provided

That means the seller is shipping through the Global Shipping Program.

The increase will be in the import fees which are tied to the percentage of duty and of sales tax that will be collected for the Canadian government before the seller ships.

Until the price hits $20CDN (about $16USD) there is no GSP fee.

After $20CDN, the GSP must forward those fees to Canada.

And as mentioned, they will rise with the bids because they are based on a percentage of value.

Add your current bid, the import fees and the shipping cost together.

If the total is no longer a good deal, stop bidding and move on to another item.

If you like, you can even Retract your bids.
