Hi. If the canadian dollar is worth .75 cents on the market then why when buying in american funds

Hello. would like to know that whatever the current rate of the Canadian dollar is, when buying something on eBay the Canadian dollar is always 2 cents less . Doesn't make sense if you want other countries that may have the same problem to keep buying. i have not bought a lot of items because the exchange rate is too low and not up to current status.

Thanks.

You need to educate yourself about the so-called exchange rate.

There is a buying rate and a selling rate. If you're moving money in the 100 million dollar range your buy/sell rates will get close to the so-called exchange rate.

For the rest of us, most Canadian credit cards will be 2.5% under/over the daily rate when converting.

Paypal is 2.5% under/over if you do the currency balance exchange(*) before making a purchase. If you make a purchase and they handle all the details it's 2.75% (rising to 3% in July).

* PayPal allows you to have funds in your account in multiple currencies which can help reduce the impact of exchange rates fluctuations.

Avoid concerns with the exchange rate by shopping on ebay.ca and selecting sellers located in Canada.

Canadian-located products are easily found by filtering your searches at left as such:
