If you look at the bid history, you will see that the exact start time was:

25-Apr-15 20:30:01 EDT

meaning the finish time was 02-May-15 20:30:01 EDT, exactly 7 days later.  They do not show the seconds on the general listing page - there you see 20:30 with no seconds.

At the top left of the bid history, you will see this:

Bidders: 4Bids: 6Time Ended: 02-May-15 20:30:01 EDTDuration: 7 days

Some buyers use a sniping service that can place bids in the last second of an auction - perfectly legal.

If the winner paid more than you bid, then he paid too much.

Otherwise, you would have bid more.

You don't know how high the winning bid was, only that it was one increment higher than yours. His bid might have been $10 or $100 more than yours.

Bid once, bid your maximum. Many also advise bidding late.
