When you bid only you and the seller can see your eBay ID.
Others see only a masked ID ( a***b).
If you don't want your family to see your eBay ID and purchases, don't tell them your eBay ID, don't tell them your password and always close eBay when you finish browsing.
And generally, no one cares what you are buying. You're not that important.
