But... groan: "Canada Post said that the new collective agreements would last just two years, half the usual four, but it was nevertheless pleased to ensure 'much-needed certainty in the postal system' going forward."

I don't want to be facing this again in only two short years.

At least all the Postal disruption happened during the Summer months when selling is traditionally slower.

Think about if this would have started in Oct/Nov!

Even though Canada Post should be deemed an essential service, we should be thankful that Postal negotiations stalled out somewhat during the Summer months...

Depends on  how much of the unions demands were met.

The wage parity might have been a bit of a stalking horse-- although there are more and more women in the union and our younger sisters are pretty clear about what they are worth.

But the pension question was the tough one. Both sides were pretty firm about what they wanted and had very different opinions about the economics of the two types of pensions.

If the union is happy, they may not have much to argue about in  2018. And Chopra may be gone by then. When does his contract run out?

His contract was extended by the Harper government - just before leaving office - for five more years from February 1, 2016 to January 31st 2021 at about $500,000.00 a year.
