Buyer to ask for defer shipment

Hi,

After successful bidding, can a buyer ask the seller to defer shipment for 2 weeks or so? Want to have the item shipped to a friend's address but he will be travelling. I cannot find a way to contact seller before bidding. Maybe I overlooked the guide to do so? Can anyone please help to guide me.

Thanks a lot.

Buyer to ask for defer shipment

Contact Seller is on the right side of the listing.

If you are shopping on a mobile device, it may not appear. Instead use a laptop or desktop which will give you more information.

This is a wise thing to do in any case before bidding on anything.

You should contact the seller about your shipping problem before bidding.

He is required to ship within 7 days of payment and to an address that is on your Paypal account.

So you must be able to assure him that your friend's address is listed. It is not uncommon for buyers to have several 'gift ' addresses, especially around Christmas time, because ... gifts?

The delay is more of a problem. Frankly speaking as a seller this situation is uncomfortable.

The seller would be shipping to a different person at a different address than the buyer. Unusual but not rare.

But then you are asking for a two week delay in shipping.

How about having the item shipped to a parent's house instead? Or try to rent a PO or UPS mailbox for shipments? Both would be more stable addresses than a random friend who might not be in town when the item is likely to arrive.

If the parcel cannot be delivered as addressed, it will eventually be returned to the seller. He will be charged return postage. He will not be thrilled at the idea of re-shipping.

Would you be willing to pay triple shipping (to friend, back to seller, back to you) for the item?

On the third hand, it takes about 20 days for items to travel from pretty well anywhere in the USA to Canada.

On the fourth hand, if the item is of any value, your friend may be asked on his doorstep to pay applicable Canadian duty and sales taxes and a service fee to the shipper. If he doesn't, the parcel will be returned to the seller.

How about waiting a couple of weeks until you are home and ordering from someone else? With over 200 000 000 items offered every day, your item is bound to reappear soon.
