Ebay Protecting Buyers & Screwing Sellers

How Sick & Tired are you with Ebay protecting Buyers &  on the Sellers ??  I am SICK of EBay's Feedback policies protecting the Buyer.I had a Buyer NOT Pay for an Item,Ebay said a Strike was put against him,but it does NOT show up on his Feedback record anywhere.I just had another LOSER from Manitoba,Canada, screw me over as well,Ebay protected his ability to leave Negative Feedback,,when he Lied in his Feedback about what actually occurred, previously apologises for his Error,i send part of his Shipping fees back to him,to keep a "Happy" Buyer ?? .and the LOSER leaves me Negative Feedback  ????...........I Called Ebay 4 Times until one of the Feedback "Specialists" ??, agrees ,it was Wrong for him to leave that Negative Feedback, and She WOULD REMOVE IT. Well , you guessed it, She did NOT remove it,i call back,a 5th time,There conveniently was NO Record of her Telling me she would,EBAY LIED , And LIED to me on the Phone.......SICK &  TIRED of Ebay doing NOTHING to Protect the Sellers. The ONLY Thing Ebay does for the Seller is Take their Seller & or Listing Fees ...&...NOTHING ELSE..........................................................................................................   Y O U ....EBAY.

You have Top Rated Seller Status, great DSRs, and only 1 negative FB in over 200.  You've run into one rotten apple in all those transactions, which isn't really a bad proportion.  And honestly, his FB just looks like sour grapes to an outsider.

If it's any consolation, that negative will no longer be counted as a defect come February 20th when all the rules around defects change (see the Fall Seller Update).  We're told that any defect that occurred prior to that date which would not have generated a defect under the new policies will not be counted as such after Feb.20th.  So take a deep breath, forget your problematic customer, and try to move forward.

By the way, if you don't want to get into even worse trouble (with eBay itself), I'd remove this listing immediately:

Incidentally, eBay never has displayed buyer strikes, but they definitely do keep track of them in the background.

This is the reason why the best thing a seller can do with a truly non-paying buyer is to file an Unpaid Item Dispute.  If the buyer doesn't pay, he gets a strike, and that strike may be his last allowable one, which means he won't be back to trouble other sellers.  So filing an UID against a buyer does help all sellers.

The other thing you can do if you feel you must (instead of putting up a diatribe on a listing) is to respond in a calm, professional and factual way to the buyer's negative FB.  A response such as "Refunded buyer's shipping in full" would be enough.  Adding a response that is a rant will do nothing but reflect badly on you as a seller.  You want every potential buyer who looks at that buyer's negative to conclude that he is the problem, not you.

Personally, I'd just leave his comment stand as it is.  As I said, it makes him look unreasonable anyway.

You need to change how you are listing, you can't put a shipping amount in then say it may be more.  Set up calculated shipping properly if you want to charge the actual amount.

I think there is more to this story than just what the OP has stated.

Yes, I think you might be right.  I hadn't looked at the OP's shipping details.  Certainly what 'toby' mentioned (not specifying an exact shipping amount in a listing) is a recipe for trouble sooner or later.

Any time you speak to an eBay or PayPal representative. Get their name and ask them to note the conversation on the item file.  Note the time and their name and the id number of the item.

This has always worked for me in the past and usually to me benefit.

There are three sides to every story: yours, mime, what really happened.

I want the mime version.

Does it involve being trapped in a box?actor-mime.jpg

I agree, there could be more to the story. IF the seller did ask the buyer for extra shipping money after the purchase, there is reason for the buyer to be upset even if the seller later on refunded the money.  A seller should never ask for more money after the sale.

If the seller in this case didn't do that...then they should respond to the feedback with the facts....calmly and businesslike.

Seconded.

"Buyer is Responsible for Shipping ,Over and Above my Estimate Listed......Shipping will be priced by the Shipping Company, at whatever it costs to ship it to wherever it may be going."

"Shipping Estimate Listed is an "Estimate Only" as Shipping Varies by Location"

Saw the above message in the description of the seller's currently listed item. That means the $20 USD shipping listed with the item is not the actual shipping cost; the OP *will* ask for additional charges if needed. After reading this in the description, that negative feedback actually sounds factual. I think sellers are supposed to abide by the shipping cost they had in the listing, and are not allowed to charge more money on top after the sale.

Yep yr absolutely  right - as I understnad it, if you enter a shipping cost, then that is the cost and you can't change it not matter what you write up in the description.

Well on second thought you can try to change it - but the buyer is only obliged to pay the listed shipping and nothing more.
