Exporting food rules?

Just curious, what are exporting rules for a food from Canada and importing, say, in US?

Discovered for myself that Canadian sellers mail pre-packaged food all the time, worldwide. Previously thought that certification for each package is required and informing US authorities before each shipment is required too, what is cost-prohibitive for a mailing of single unit of food.

Did search, all the same. If you know, by any chance, can you point me in the right direction, where can I find this information?

Thank you.

Exporting food rules?

The USA has the tightest rules regarding food imports of ANY country in the world.

For information you can start here:

That said, if you file the proper paperwork it's not a problem but the paperwork burden hardly makes sense for low value shipments.
