Fixing Gallery Pictures

In the past, when a gallery picture didn't show up in Search, and it didn't appear to be a temporary eBay glitch, I simply revised the listing and re-downloaded the picture(s).

However, when there's a bid on the item, you can add photos to those already showing but you can't change the order of the existing pictures, nor can you delete any of them.  I was thinking that perhaps I could just move Picture #2 to the first spot and that might correct the problem, but you can't do that.

Of course, when you click on the listing title, you can see all the pictures; however, there's still 5 days left on the auction and it bothers me that, in Search, the gallery picture won't show and therefore the listing may not attract other viewers or bids.  One person found it but she may have known precisely what she wanted.

I tried the eBay "Fix Your Picture" function but it didn't work .... someone told me it never works.

Is there something that does work that you might know of?

Thanks.

AND HAVE A WONDERFUL LABOUR DAY LONG WEEKEND !!!

Fixing Gallery Pictures

Hi 'jt'  -- I wonder if there's something more going on.  It's just an observation, but I noticed the other day when I was looking for a couple of items to buy on eBay, in 3 of the 5 search results I checked, there were items with photos missing.

I always wonder about all the frenetic programming that must be going on in the background just prior to the Fall Seller Update, and what effect that's having on other things (like the picture upload) working properly.  If there's anything eBay is now known for, it's being "glitch central".  Sorry I can't offer anything specific; maybe 'poco' will pop up!

We'll be enjoying a glorious long weekend here -- blue skies, warm but pleasant temperatures and gentle breezes.  It just couldn't be a better way to end off the summer.  I'm working on my listings and designing (as usual) over this weekend, but taking a few extra "loafing on the deck" breaks.  Woman LOL

Thanks rose.  When I see a lot of listings with missing gallery pictures, then I assume it's another eBay glitch.  I guess I've never attempted to fix one that had a bid.  Usually things correct themselves.

Well I'm not going to let that bother me.   I have a bid .... and that's good.

After a week of high temperatures and humidex in the low 40's, we're back to normal temp's and a rainy weekend in Winnipeg.  But it's still summer so we won't let that stand in our way.

Enjoy yourself!

Renewing the page might help..

Did that with two listings yesterday.

------------------------------------------

You must have slept through that downpour yesterday, Friday afternoon....

2:30 PM looked like 8:00 PM....  Dark foreboding skies.

Streets flooded temporarily.... sewer overload....Cars stalled

Underpasses flooded.... Main Street, McPhillips  and Keewatin... had to use the Arlington Bridge to get back to the south side of the city..  stayed away from downtown.

Very interesting ... but not as bad as Edmonton in 1978.....Streets flooded.....No one was allowed to use the 105 th street hill  on the north side of the River.... It was a full force waterfall

It is amazing to see that people do not know not to drive through a flood on a street or in an underpass..... atleast not too fast....  and then stall in a middle of newly formed pond.... and with no rubber boots or hip waders

I did try refreshing, cumos, but no luck!  Thanks.

No I certainly wasn't sleeping through that storm yesterday.  I was including that as the start of our "rainy" weekend.  That's been three torrential downpours in three consecutive weekends.  It seems that North Kildonan hasn't been hit as badly as other parts of the city.

Recently I have had the same problems with some photos not showing in search, and have also had trouble fixing them.  I use a third party listing tool, which usually manages to navigate through eBay's "glitches", but no luck with that.  Going through eBay's "Revise a Listing" and deleting and then re-adding photos, I've had to do it 2 and 3 times to get results on some, and others just won't respond to the revisions.  Hopefully this gets corrected soon.

I was touring the city during the major part of the storm...   I was near the Garden City Shopping Centre when the big downpour hit that part of the city...

Thankfully no hail.... Heard some horrific stories this past Wednesday.

Survived with no problems.... not like those in today's Free Press...

And the Arlington Bridge will soon be gone....

Yes, revising and reloading the photos did work for the two I had, that didn't have their photo on the search page. It did not fix the problem right away, but did eventually work, about 10 min.after I hit the revise button.

Did both of your items have bids?  I think you can re-load when there are no bids .... I've done that many times.

However, this item has a bid on it and the option to re-load the pictures is not available.  In fact, I can't do anything with the pictures, except add some.

Please forgive me for taking so long to reply.

None of the items I revised had a bid on them so it was easy to do.

I just got off the phone after talking to ebay CS regarding a listing I have had on here for years. I have sold quite a few of that particular listing, and was informed by a possible buyer that they could no longer see the photo when they clicked on it.

I would revise the listing if I still had the photo, unfortunately it was on a computer that crashed, and the remaining items are packaged up ready to ship. I could unwrap one, take a few photos and re-wrap it again, but it's a huge job, as it's a 24x36" Banner.

The CS rep transferred me to a listing specialist who was aware of the "bug". I was told that they were going to fix it, and wanted me to keep an eye on the listing to see when they were able to do so.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but the issue has not gone away. If anything, it seems to be getting worse.

Fyi, the listing in question is 171954611884.

When I click on the item number, there is no photo.

When I scroll through your listings, the gallery photo is there but when I click on it, it takes me to your listing with no photo.

Very strange!!

I can see your gallery picture when I scroll through your listings. If you go to that picture and right click on it you can save it to a program such as picassa or photoshop or whatever you use  for photos on your PC and then you should be able to use it for your listing.

I know how frustrating that is.  I wouldn't want to open up a packaged item of that size to re-take the picture. But your picture may not be lost forever.

Whereas your gallery photo shows but not the photo in the listing, mine was the opposite.  I tried everything under the sun to get the photo to show, with no luck.  Then 6 days after I listed it, the photo suddenly appeared and it's never happened again.

Unfortunately the gallery photo of the banner leaves something to be desired and I can see why a person might want to view a larger picture.  I searched for this item online, as I'm sure you have, to see if there was a retail outlet that sold the same banner but all I could find was your previous listings.  Hopefully, your picture will simply re-appear as mine did.  Good luck!
