New Definition For Selling Collectibles

Due to the new ebay changes, I was had to open a basic ebay store.

Not a problem for the first 3 weeks, & then today I tried to list an Auction item for sale.

I checked & confirmed that I had 5 more unused auction listings to use for the month (under the Collectibles Listings).

From the ebay site, "Collectibles" includes "Stamps".

What I encountered was that "Stamps" are no longer included in "Collectibles".

As 95% of my sales are in Stamps, my Store subscription which allows for 150 free fixed price listings plus 100 free auction listings a Month is now compromised.

Half of my "free" available listings.... which I paid for via store subscription is now unavailable to me.

I contacted an ebay rep & they had no answer as of yet.

Does any other Stamp sellers run into this problem?

VERY IMPORTANT WARNING TO ALL STAMP SELLERS:

Just got off the phone with an ebay rep again!

They are not aware of the problem.

The change effectively took place today where Stamp are now not under "Collectibles".

ie  you can't list Stamps in auctions any more unless you want to pay 25 cent per listing.

Of course this 25 cents is refunded to you if the item sells.

Like playing Russian Roulette.

For most stamp sellers, they probably sell 1 stamp lot for every 10 listings.

So my new store (less than 1 month old) effectively have half of the floorspace taken away.

I only opened it because of the new May 1st ebay changes.

Plus the early cancellation for the store is about a $58 penalty.

No.  I tried listing another auction style listing this morning and the charge is still $0.00 as it should be.

???

What is that all about?

Did you cancel your store already ? Why?

Hi, Pierre

Thanks for testing out the Listing which seems to work OK for you.

Wonder if you did your test on ebay.ca or ebay.com

(it shouldn't matter though)

I also tested the listing with an ebay rep on the phone & it still charged me 25 cents to list even when I had 5 more free Auction Collectible Listings available.

He told me to list it anyways & would refund my 25 cent listing fee.

No, I did not cancel my store as this is the first month I've had it.

I was just thinking of cancelling it because I have always listed (95%) via Auction in Stamps.

I only started listing at Fixed Prices this month.

If this type of listing is unavailable in my store, of course I would close it.

But at a penalty of about $58, I am likely going to keep it longer.

EVERYTHING OK & BACK TO NORMAL:

Spoke with another ebay Rep this morning & the problem has been explained.

1) When I opened my ebay store, I was given 100 free Auction style listings under Collectibles (which I used).

2) Having a store negates the free 20 listings given to sellers without a store.

3) In my ebay Summary page, I still see the 5 listings available to me when I did not have an ebay store. (this should have been changed to zero, but still shows as 5 more for free).

This third ebay rep figured it out.

It was the first ebay rep that told me Stamps are not considered "Collectibles" when listing, even when I mentioned it was still listed under Collectibles in the fee page definitions.
