Sellers Should Target Seniors. They are Richer Than You Think!

When listing your "stuff" on eBay you should target Canadian seniors.  They are richer than you think.

This month the federal government is sending "Old Age Security" cheques with a $1.13 increase (from $563.74 to $564.87).

Let's all go for it!

Maybe the others here missed the point, but you were being facetious I hope!?

Just think what a profit is waiting to be made on that extra $1.13 per month.

Or maybe the federal government thought it might buy some votes from seniors whose eyeglass prescription needs updating (that is, the ones who can't afford it), and think they're getting an extra $113.00. Woman LOL

Wow, that's a huge increase. These seniors are not rich, I only get around $380 a month because I was not able to work for many years, and didn't pay CP, maybe I will get that big increase!

That was an increase in the Old Age Pension - available to all Canadians regardless whether they worked or not.

The CPP did not change this month

Many seniors live on the OAS plus CPP... and then  a Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Many do not know how to use a computer .... Many cannot afford a computer... let alone buy off eBay.

But then there are many sellers on eBay who are seniors, and do very well.....

I attend estate auctions all the time and you have no idea how many senior citizens are there buying stuff from someone that just passed away that is pretty darned close to the same age they are ,i just shake my head and think all this stuff will be up for auction again soon enough.

guess that pension increase will go a long way at the next auction 🙂

Never underestimate the ability of a senior....

Many seniors retire and call it quits....  6 months in Winnipeg... six months in Mexico as someone told me last Friday...that is for a few....

Many other I know went back to farming with the younger generation

There was once a discussion on eBay.com about the age of sellers on eBay....

Seniors out numbered the youngsters....One of the most successful sellers was 88 years old....

Seniors know how to make it happen... on eBay and elsewhere

Got to keep that gray matter functional

I should have 3 to 5 years more on eBay... but  when do I start counting

I am crazy to do what I do... and just as crazy not to do it....

DH has taken up playing bridge in his semi-retirement.

One of the ladies he plays with is thinking of replacing her little red sports car.

She bought it for herself as a 90th birthday present.

But five years later, she thinks she should buy something more practical.

Many seniors attend  local auctions... and they buy to resell...

It is only within the last year that ....

The younger generation... a few in their twenties... show up... they buy...to sell....  and find that this can be fun...

I have met  several very successful of all generations.

OAS and CPP can take one only so far....  One needs a lot more....  and many in the senior generation have done very well over the pre-retirement years.

It is unfortunate, but there are those  that barely do well from month to month.....and that is where OAS, CPP .. and ...  then add in the  Guaranteed Income Supplement  ......contribute to the well-being of many seniors.

On the topic of OAS and CPP... Might be a strange and irrelevant question to you all.

If let's say, somebody unfortunately passed away due to ill health or accidents before they reach retirement age, what happens to the CPP pension etc that this person had paid through work? Does it get passed on to their family members or does this person need to write a will ahead of time to make sure it gets passed to their family members?

Actually the Fed government is so DUMB that they think we would be so excited over the increase of $1.13!!  Pity it is not $113.00 which would be more ideal!

I don't know, depends how you spend it...

... in my city last week that increase would have bought 10 pounds of potatoes with change leftover

... or you could splurge and get one postage stamp.
