Hi eBay,

This $1 fee for listing an item for 1 day or 3 days is a bit over the top and came as a complete surprise.   However, eBay should be making the fees much more transparent.     When you list an item for sale, and get to the Duration section, NO WHERE does it indicate a fee of $1 for a 1 day or 3 day listing.   Even when you click on the little question mark icon, it does not state this fee or even mention about this special listing fee.   All it states is:

Duration

Before you select the duration—which is how long your listing will run—keep these things in mind:

• Buyers often watch items for a while before they bid so consider a long duration to attract more buyers.

• For time-sensitive items like concert tickets, make sure your listing ends with enough time to ship the item to the buyer.

• For a 1-day listing, your Feedback score has to be at least 10, or if you have a PayPal account and accept PayPal as a payment method, your Feedback score has to be at least 5.

• A 10-day duration costs extra. See our listing fees for details.

• You can't extend the duration if 2 or more hours have passed since you submitted the listing.

  Either I need glasses, or it should state the wording that the 1 day or 3 day listing will be considered a special listing fee, and costs extra.    Just like the way you state a 10 day duration, that costs extra.   

  PLEASE MAKE THE CHANGES and CLARIFY THIS!!!

It's unlikely that ebay will read your message as this is a member to member board.

That link must not have been updated because as of May 1, there is no extra charge for a 10 day listing. There is a weekly board session on Wednesday with ebay reps so perhaps someone will mention the oversight then.

How do you list?

The online ebay Sell Your Item form has a second page called "Review your listing". There is a section Review you fees with breakdown of fees, free or with a cost and a total. It clearly shows a 1 day duration fee of $1 if I create a test listing with a 1 day or 3 day auction duration.

Did you not review your fees before submitting the listing? I always review my fees before submitting a listing.

This on the SYI Advanced form, not the Quick Lister form. Maybe if you used that tool it is not as clear.

PS The duration min help file is wrong as you pointed out. But the key is to always check the actual fees being charged before submitting a listing.
