Union Files Notice of Strike Action (Aug 25th afternoon)

http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canada-post-union-cupw-strike-mandate-1.3735203

The biggest union at Canada Post says it has filed a 72-hour notice of job action, but is willing to withdraw it if the Crown corporation agrees to an extension on negotiations.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has a strike mandate that is set to expire at midnight eastern time on Thursday.

The union says that in the notice it sent to management it listed its anticipated job actions but has stopped short of members walking off the job.

I did mine last night.

I wonder what their job actions are?

Me too, it doesn't look good.

The way I see it we will hopefully be smarter by Monday.  Either they go on strike or not.  Or Canada Post lock them out.

If CUPW decides to use small rotating strikes as they did years ago, then I may re-open the store next week.

Time off at my age is always welcome. Smiley Happy

Would really like some clarification on the anticiapted job actions. Sound like they are saying it won't be a full out strike.

They will disrupt operations enough so CP locks them out, then go crazy blaming cp for the stoppage

Clearly that's the plan, hopefully CP doesn't take the bait and I don't really see any reason why they would.

I'm betting (pennies only) that this festers until Late November and then miraculously gets settled.

I'm really not sure what to do at this point myself, even a week of no sales = no income for me at all. I'm inclined to shut down, but after last month shutting down for 3 weeks (for nothing), it almost ruined me.

I really can't afford any time not potentially selling. This situation is horrible really...

The union did what it had to do... Time was running out...

The union had to serve notice of something.....  and could hold this as is for three days, and perhaps  longer....

Now we must wait for other things to happen....

"usually less than an hour. "

Today somehow seems to be slower.  It has been three hours already....

If you put your store on vacation, your listings will show:

"This seller is currently away until (date you selected) 2016, and is not processing orders at this time. You can add this item to your watch list to purchase later. "

That message comes in immediately, as soon as you change your vacation settings.

Is it better to hide all your listings or just put it in vacation mode, where the listings are still visible?  Can they still buy?

I posted this to the old thread today and wondered as to the reason very few people reacted.

"The union said in the event of a strike action, stoppages will rotate by province and territory and union workers will not work overtime."

Does this mean it's gonna start out as a rotating strike first, aka mail is still moving but slow?

I would venture to say, yes.

Hopefully, eBay will cover sellers for that with extended delivery estimates.
