WHAT IS 'NETNEUTRALS' AND DOES THIS MEAN WE NOW HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE FEEDBACK REVISIONS CONSIDERED?

I stumbled across this is another Discussion Forum thread. Somehow, I don't know how news of this could have escaped my attention unless it's because I don't hang around the USA Boards.

From the FAQ

How much does it cost to invite a Neutral?

The Neutral's services are available for $130.  This fee is paid for by the Claimant, the party who requests the feedback review (usually the Seller).  The fee covers the Independent Feedback Review. Payment is made through PayPal.  The Neutral will join the Forum once payment is received.

Assuming that is, in fact, $130 USD which is $169 CAD at the moment.

Am I alone in seeing the writing on the wall? Those Feedback Specialists as part of Customer Service will be replaced by 'professional' for whom we will have to pay $130 each to examine our case?

Also, I didn't know ebay members were allowed to slag-off other parties in Guides? What if someone wrote a Guide that says, 'mjwl2006 stinks like an elephant's butt and has bony girl arms' ...? Would that be allowed to stand?

(We'll see who the true fans of The Simpsons are around here now.)

If ever you see a "Guide" that is offending as you describe the thing to do is contact the Webmaster of the site.  No guarantees but you can calmly and politely explain why it should be removed.  On eBay if ever there was something posted about another member it would be easy to get removed because slagging other users is not allowed.  A buyer can complain in feedback but thats it.

I guess they don't use my word in poems that often.

Let me try. A-hem.

I got some bad feedback on ebay

It totally ruined my day

I butt my cigar

And jumped in my car

And drove all the way

To NetNeutrals, Hooray!

For $130 bucks,

The feedback that sucks

Will be gone like my finery

How's that for some bribery?

LOL!  That's a perfectly good word!  And now that you mention it, a fitting description for paying to get a neg removed that would otherwise not be considered offensive enough to get the chop.

Now that FB is no longer counting against a seller, I wonder if a service like "Neuters" will become irrelevant and disappear.  Used to be to many NFB could harm a selling record but now that it doesn't matter, who would pay that much to remove something that doesn't count anyway?

Very true, I was not thinking of that. Too much negative feedback used to be the death knell for sellers but now it's just noise. An affront to pride and reputation and not much else.

Edit: you caught my bad poem mid-edit when I was still trying to find a word that rhymed with bribery. Oh the shame! Binary, finery, crime-ery. Nope, nothing rhymes.

Orange came to mind, believe it or not. As in, 'This word is as awful for rhyming as the word orange'.

I think this has been around for years. Back in the early 2000's there was a similar program run by Square Deal. I had some real fun back in the day when buyers I had given negs to would pay Square Deal to negotiate a retraction from me, I would string them along until the buyer had paid the maximum amount of fees and then just refuse.

The whole thing was a real joke. Now keep in mind I was not in the habit of giving out negs willy nilly, those I negged really deserved what the got.

I remember that "service" as well.

It was available directly via eBay and the link was built into the listing but funnelled through a third party in the style of the GSP.

Sellers could pay a flat rate and buy the service (probably by the year) or pay/use.

There was a 'Letter to the Editor' on ecommercebytes recently from a person who swore some big seller was getting all their negs removed en-masse. I wonder if this is related in some manner to that. All the juicy details were redacted.
