What is an eBay trading assistant agreement?

Obsolete.

At one time eBay was encouraging seller to take outher folks items on consignment for sale on eBay and published those seller's names as Trading Assistants.

I even remember a physical store in Ottawa that would do this which displayed the eBay logo.

But consignment is tougher than consignors think.

The owners did not realize how much time (which is money-- the minimum wage in BC is 17 cents a minute) it takes to work up a decent listing, how much fees run, how long it takes to sell, how much time (at 17cents a minute ) it takes to package and ship purchased items, and how long a seller has to wait to be sure that the transaction is actually complete and it is safe to hand over the consignor's money.  Oh yeah, and insurance. And counterfeit or mis identified goods. And mistaking 'rare' for 'valuable'. And And And.

Trading Assistants who wanted to make money charged 40% or more of the selling price and often added to that all listing and selling fees.

If you have stuff you want to sell, photograph, describe, list, package and ship it yourself.

If you have been asked to sell consigned goods, be sure to have the items in your hands, have a written and signed contract, and know exactly what your costs are going to be, including a better than minimum wage.
