What happens when a seller has to refund money?

If a seller had to refund the money back to a buyer, and the credit is showing on the buyer's credit card, what notification does the seller get from Ebay?  An email stating that the money has already been refunded?

Thanks!

You are the seller?

Your customer paid you directly to your merchant credit card account?

You refunded directly from your merchant credit card account?

You still have the item and your customer has his money back?

If this is the case, open a Mutual Cancellation request. The buyer has to agree or ignore it. Let him know that. It closes faster if he agrees. This is a friendly way of ending a transaction.

Both of you can then leave feedback, and you get your selling fees back.

Or did the seller pay through Paypal?

Did you refund from that payment to your PP account?

EBay will have been notified by PP, and you should see your FVF on your monthly statement.

Or did you refund from your merchant credit card account?

No, I am not a seller, so I don't know how it works on the seller's side after a dispute is closed in the buyer's favor. I am the buyer. I received a refund, case closed. Then I got an email from the seller saying she would refund me next month. Huh? Hence my question, didn't Ebay send her an email saying the case was closed, and the buyer got a refund? I did not and will not reply to the seller's email for various reasons but I do not want her sending me money when I already got the refund.
