ebay and canadian tax man

Some of the Canadian Tax Men are women.

What is the exact question?

If you are registered with Revenue Canada (and your provincial tax office) to remit taxes, you just add your eBay sales to your other sales.

Remit, not charge. Many sellers include applicable taxes in their asking price and send the correct amount in as applicable. Others do it as an add-on. And pay attention to HST provinces, they can be tricky.

If you are not registered, you basically don't have to until you are selling over $30K annually. But as you approach that figure it is a good idea to register and start remitting.

Don't collect taxes unless you have a tax number. The Tax Man doesn't like that. Nor do the Tax Women.

Even if you are not registered to remit taxes, you have to report your profits (not your gross) on your income tax. Keep careful records of your expenses as well as of your income.

Paying taxes is a sign that you are successful.
