How do I cancel a transaction, after a buyer states that he no longer wants the item due to shipping costs?

The customer will get a request for a Mutual Cancellation. If he accepts, both of you are released from the transaction.

Be cautious, if the bidder is belligerant, use the Unpaid Item instead. With the MC the bidder can leave feedback which could be nasty. The MC is for friendly communication.
