how long to wait for buyer to respond to email

how long to wait? fellow does not respond.?????

Maybe the buyer is busy, on the road, had a family emergency, etc... When I sell a item, I do not care if the buyer responds at all, as long as they pay. If they do not pay after 4 days I get Ebay to send a reminder to them, which then forces them to pay or get a strike on their account.  No response or communication is needed as far as I am concerned, it is pretty straight forward.

You mean when asking for payment? You never need to ask for payment, just file unpaid item dispute 4 days after end of sale. I'm not sure what other reason a seller would need to ask the buyer a question but there may be questions other than payment requests.
