if your listing sell do you get your listing fee back?

No.

EBay earns its pay by supplying you space to advertise your items to many millions of potential customers worldwide, 24/7.

As a promotion, eBay sometimes offers Free Listings. These can vary from Fifty Free Listings of any kind, Free Auctions, Free with Free Shipping, Free with a Free Relist if Unsold, etc.

But if you pay a listing fee, it is your rent for the space, sold or unsold.

And this part is my opinion.

In addition, you will be charged for most options.

Some like Best Offer or Buy It Now are useful. Some of the picture options are useful.

Some like Design Templates are pretty useless, since the customer can't see them until she opens your listing and free templates are available on the web if you look around.

Watch out for Sub-Title. You have 80 keystrokes in your Title which show in Search. These come free with your listing. The sub-title is NOT free and is NOT Searchable.

If you have a Free Listing which includes a promotion for some of these options, it will NOT be free on relist, even if the relisting itself is free (a fairly common promotion).

Here's the takeaway.

Allow about 20% of your selling price, including shipping cost, for fees.

If you can't make money on your sale with the eBay fees, the item is not suitable for selling on eBay.
