Did eBay refer you?Or did they make the claim themselves?

Expert appraisals are done in person and if written are usually charged for.

My husband does appraisals on stamps and stamp collections, but he uses one of several expertisers including the American Philatelic Society, Vincent Graves Greene Foundation, Sergio Sismondo, and the Royal Philatelic Foundation when he needs third party expertisation.

No useful appraisal can be done on the internet.

They charged I think 7 dollars a item.

They are some how connected to ebay or endorsed by Ebay.

Its been a few years and I cant remember.

http://pages.ebay.ca/help/buy/authentication.html

This is the organizations ebay suggests to use for ID etc

I personally would shy away from this type of appraisal

To accuratley appraise items one has to have the item in hand

way to many variables take place and in no way can a picture present what the item is actually like condition wise etc

thanks it was the first one on your list that i was looking for.

I see they charge $9.95 now.

For what im looking for a online outfit will work good enough.

I mainly want to see if the makers marks are from a known outfit.

Go to the collectibles board on the .com site. Someone will help you for free.  There is a wealth of knowledge on those category specific chat boards.
