"I'm now blogging at Blog.EcommerceBytes.com, and if you've subscribed to the new blog via RSS, you already know some of the changes that are coming to eBay as part of the May Seller Release, including free image hosting - stay tuned to the Blog for updates as they become available.

You'll also find information on the EcommerceBytes Blog about eBay's decision to put ads for competing listings inside sellers' Item pages in a section called "More Items to Consider," an incredibly controversial move, and one that eBay has not announced to sellers who pay for those listings. You can read the details and leave your comments on this EcommerceBytes Blog post.

eBay is reviewing the whole topic of feedback and DSRs (confirmed), and the company is asking some sellers for their input. AuctionBytes Blog editor Julia Wilkinson asked our readers what they think - it's not too late to leave your own comment on this AuctionBytes Blog post.

Free pictures is lovely...but I have no doubt I'll be paying for those pictures in another way or form.  You can't get something for nothing.

Strongly dislike the idea of competing ads in my own listing...but I'm sure ebay already knows that and doesn't care...and won't care unless it actually hurts THEIR bottom line.  I can only hope that many others, like me, ignore the annoying ads that want to show me something else I might like.

In some categories yes....in others, only the first photo is free.

Spring eBay policy changes, no way. Don't recall that happening in previous springs.

Anxiously awaiting, as many others are, the new proposals.

Either way, whatever new policy is implemented we have always managed to weather the storm. We are a resilient bunch.

Other Items To Consider!
Feb 21, 2012 09:01 PM

There is always someone that is sick and tired of the E-Bay thing and just wants off. So he will sell off whatever inventory he  has AT A LOSS just to cash out and accept the failure. This will be the new "Other Items To Consider Category!!" This should pretty much wipe out the rest of us that are barely keeping up to the firesale market place. E-Bay it seems is run by geniouses who won't stop this crap until all there is on E-Bay is 1-5$ crap from China and that is all! They are pretty much there already but the "Other Items to Consider" category should really clinch it.

Imagine at the local WalMart.

Big signs advertising Sears right at the front door to WalMart.....

I actually saw something very like that this weekend.

I was stopping at SuzyQ Donuts on Wellington Street here in Ottawa, hoping they still had some bacon-maplesugar donuts even though it was after noon, and noticed that there was a big billboard for MacDonald's right over their parking lot.

They were sold out of all but five doughnuts, so I got two of those (chocolate) and the guy behind me scoffed the last three.

Quality pays.

That's the maple -bacon on the right. REAL maple sugar. Between these and the Beavertails ( in addition to the classics like Killaloe Sunrise- butter, lemon juice and jam on a fried sweet pastry - they now have an oreo version) the number of arteries clogged by Ottawa bakers should make the Guinness book of Records.

Gawd i hate the evening shift. One more week to go.

Would really like the Shipping Time DSR to be reviewed. Seems to be a major complaint for the majority of sellers who ship within twenty four hours.

Buyers still have to understand it is how quickly we ship the item not how long it takes to arrive at its destination.

I agree I think shipping time and shipping Charge DSR Should be gone bye bye ....

I charge Lower then actual shipping cost EVERYWHERE and still have received about three 1/s or 2/s  for rating which really burns my !#^ because If I wanted a bad rating I would charge actually shipping or more ... .Example I charge 10 to ship international when it actually cost me $17.76  and still end up with bad shipping charge ratings once in awhile ....I now copy and paste paypal Shipping Details for every US and International buyer and have avoided any low ratings sense but this is work I should not have to do ...

Not a bad idea.  It may actually work for WalMart.

A few years ago, I remember a stamp dealer advertising: "Please visit my competitors first.  Then come see me and enjoy my quality and low prices!"

I've been a member for many years now and I don't recall any "changes" that ever lowered the cost of selling, or helped the sellers with non-paying bidders.

I have a feeling its just a new "creative" way for eBay to make more money.  The only way eBay makes any money is through the sellers and advertising.

Not proposals - rules!
