FVF on reimbursment
Feb 17, 2012 05:38 PM

Item sold. Sent invoice. Buyer paid. However when I took it to the post office it was less to mail than the buyer had paid. I would like to offer the buyer a partial refund on the shipping via Paypal but not sure if I will still get dinged for the original shipping cost that appeared on the invoice.

Thanks

I should add that the local domestic shipping was less than what was paid as I am in BC and the item went to the USA.

Your fees (except the PayPal portion) will not be refunded.

If you want to recoup them just give the buyer a smaller refund.

One question; why do you feel you must refund the extra postage? Is it a huge amount? There's more to the cost of shipping than just the postage. The buyer paid what you asked for, unless they expressed some concern about the amount they were charged I don't see the need to refund anything. Prersumably you made a profit on the item itself I don't imagine you would refund any part of that.

"the local domestic shipping was less than what was paid..."

If you listed on eBay.ca, eBay would have charged you FVF on the lower (domestic) shipping charge.
