Well, it finally happened

Hi all,
It has finally happened, I got a neutral feedback this morning ruining my perfect feedback record.
It came from a buyer with four feedback.
She left neutral with the comment "product was good quality" huh??
I noticed that out of seven feedback she has left for others three (including mine) are neutral, and one positive that she left was to let the seller know she bought the item by mistake and wanted to cancel it.
*sigh* newbies!

Sorry to hear about the neutral Bears and welcome to the club.
Don't let it get to you though as your TRUE feedback left by all your other buyers will speak for what kind of a seller you are.
Reply to it if you'd like with a calm, factual response (might make you feel better lol)
If you look into this newbs other neutral feedback left you'll see that the "holes in the shirt" and "stains" were mentioned CLEARLY in each ad. This is the kind of buyer that needs to get swerved in the right direction as far as the ways of Ebay's feedback system before they go further off the rails!

I'm so sorry about the underserved feedback you received by this newbie. I wish eBay would teach the new members on how it works here... and most importantly, to READ the descriptions. As 007steveb16 mentionned, the stains and holes were clearly stated in the descriptions of the items she/he bought.
This member goes straight to my BBL.

I would definitely reply to the feedback she gave you, it will stand out on her feedback page. Really, that's the only way sellers can "warn" other sellers. If I had seen her feedback, I would have cancelled her bid. Newbies used to be notorious for non-payment (perhaps still are?), now we have to worry about their feedback when they DO pay.
My sympathies...it sucks!

I wholly sympathize with your situation, but for what it's worth, as a seller I'd suggest asking eBay to remove the neutral on the basis that the comment itself was positive (remind them that fingers can slip on the feedback button, and once the button's hit, that's it... )
In any event, I'd post a reply on your feedback page so that other customers can see your side of the issue. I do think experienced buyers "get it" when they see such things.
BTW, I've added your newbie to my blocked list too.

Ah well, at least it will not affect your percentage. I hope she did not decide that an acceptable DSR is 4 or even 3.
She's going on my BBL too, since I also sell patterns.
Interestng that she buys items described as damaged (holes, bleach stains) in dollar auctions and then is unhappy with her purchases.

so are you saying that it is possible to have a neutral removed? I got one from a relatively new member, she was mad I opened an unpaid case, I waited what I thought was a reasonable amount of time, sent a number of emails asking - nothing. Finally opened a case, and she pays, gets the item, and then leaves a neutral related to my not even calling before opening a cases... really?
So is there a chance I can ask for it's removal, and do I have to call? I am still waiting for them to remove to the low DSR numbers that appeared after the computer glitch......

I sold a collectible Gift Card recently. No payment was sent to me. After the allotted time period I opened a non payment case.
After a week of no response I closed the case citing no payment...relisted the item. Then I get a notice this week that the bid was withdrawn and or cancelled???? What's up with that?
Let's just carry on.

I find that newbies simply don't understand the whole feedback process and its implications for sellers. On those rare occasions when I have gotten a neutral, I message the buyer. I explain what the feedback ratings mean to me and my business on eBay. Once I have done that, I do not ask them to change the feedback. However, I do advise them that feedback can be changed and explain how.
Sometimes a little education goes a long way. It may not help your immediate situation but may help others.
The shining light for eBay procedures and protocol is Pierre. He has helped many eBayers to learn what goes on on eBay. After 13 years, I still learn from him. I would have thought that he would have gotten tired of delivering the same info for the 12309 th. time, but he always is ready to help, again.
We should all learn from his example!!!!! “I have decided to stick to love...Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your kind replies.
I sent the buyer a nice polite note a couple of days ago, letting her know we were glad she was happy with the quality of the item, but wondered if there was any kind of problem, and told her that we looked forward to hearing from her so that we could sort out any issues etc.
If I don't hear from her I will just reply to the feedback. I don't think ebay will remove it, because it doesn't seem to fall under any of the reasons they say they will remove feedback.
I guess it's not that big of a deal (unless of course my DSR's were trashed, which I can't tell yet), I was just really surprised to get a neutral. I put as much effort as possible into running a tight ship, good communication, quick shipping, great product, I guess sometimes it's just not enough.
Thanks for all the great advice and tips!
Cheers!
Heather
