Important policy update: Airbags no longer permitted on eBay
Summary: Effective September 24, 2026, eBay will prohibit the listing and sale of airbags and airbag inflators, as well as their components, due to potential risks to users. Effective September 24, 2026, airbags and airbag inflators are not permitted to be listed or sold on eBay by any seller. This policy applies across the entire airbag category. This decision was made following a comprehensive review of the risks these products may pose to eBay users.
What’s not allowed on eBay?
The following standalone components are no longer allowed:
Airbags
Airbag inflators (gas generators)
Steering wheel airbag covers
Outside the United States, all sellers may continue to list permitted airbag-related parts that do not contain an airbag or inflator (listed below). In the United States, the sale of these permitted parts is restricted to sellers who are currently pre-approved.
Airbag control unit
Airbag crash sensor (impact sensor)
Diagnostic module
Passenger sensor
What you need to do
Review your active, scheduled and draft listings in the affected categories
Remove any listings mentioned above by September 24, 2026.
You will have 30 days to comply with this new policy. If these listings are not removed by September 24, 2026, eBay will remove them on your behalf. Any listings you remove yourself, or that eBay removes for you as part of this update, will not negatively affect your account’s policy compliance history. Relisting these items may result in selling restrictions.
