Asendia then Broad Reach - eBay International Shipping to Canada
Summary: baz_laz_1115 seeks experiences from others in Canada regarding package deliveries via Asendia, with final delivery by Broad Reach, expressing concern due to negative reviews. marnotom! responds by pointing out the tendency of more negative reviews online and shares a positive experience with smooth delivery, suggesting that prepaid import taxes through Asendia might differ from DHL eCommerce/Canada Post services. They inquire if this aligns with baz_laz_1115's experiences.
Has anyone in Canada had experience receiving a package shipped via Asendia and then handed off to Broad Reach?
It looks like Asendia has been assigned to transport a package of mine from Illinois across the border, with Broad Reach handling the final delivery out west. I’ve seen quite a few negative experiences with Broad Reach, so I’m a little concerned.
I’ve received dozens of packages through DHL eCommerce/Canada Post, and this is actually the first time I’ve seen Broad Reach listed as the final carrier. Ironically, this is probably the most important package I’ve been waiting for, so I’m really hoping everything goes smoothly! Thanks for your input.

I'm on Vancouver Island and I bought something in US eIS's early days that was handled by Asendia. Broad Reach may have been mentioned in the tracking (it does sound familiar) but I'm not completely sure. Anyway, I had no issues with the receipt of the item. It just showed up on my doorstep like just about everything else we order here.
For what it's worth, my impression is that items that go through the eBay International Shipping system shipped through Asendia have taxes and import charges paid at checkout, whereas the ones that go by DHL eCommerce and Canada Post have the tax charges deferred until later in the shipment or at delivery. Does that seem to jive with your experience?

OP1 month agoYes, this is the first time I saw an option to "prepay duties" (which were actually $0 at checkout), and it was cheaper than the shipping option to "defer duties" so that may explain why it's Asendia. Good to hear you had a decent experience with them.
