Can you report a seller for wasting your time?
Summary: ch_297335 shares a frustrating experience trying to purchase multiple items from a seller on eBay. They encountered issues with combined shipping and missing items in their cart. After three days of back-and-forth communication, some items were sold to others, leading ch_297335 to feel deceived by the seller. reallynicestamps suggests avoiding complex processes and recommends asking for a private listing next time. john_koenig99 points out that negative feedback cannot be left without a purchase, and warns against retaliatory feedback, while videotimeplus notes that shipping issues might not be the seller's fault due to eBay's platform limitations. mrdutch1001 questions the fairness of the platform's feedback mechanisms. Overall, the conversation revolves around the inability to leave feedback for a frustrating experience that didn't result in a purchase.
I would like to know if there is anyway to leave negative feedback for a seller who you did not purchase from yet?
I was interested in purchasing multiple buy it now items from a seller. 14 items to be exact.
I had watched 14 of the items and the seller had sent me offers on all of them for a 15% discount. Which I accepted.
The seller resides in the USA and I reside in Canada.
Upon trying to check out the items there were multiple problems.
The first problem was the combined shipping. It was not working right. The seller had to fix this or refund me the shipping they said. They said shipping would be $20 USD with USPS international not $300.00 that ebay quoted.
Upon adding the 14 items the check out only showed 11 items.
To fix this the seller told me there was a problem with their store and that they would have to relist the items. They told me something on their end was not working right.
This messed up my cart.
I had to empty out the entire cart and start from scratch from the sellers store.
The items which were discounted were also now fully priced.
Anyway the seller told me to re-add all the items back into my cart from their store. I added all the items back into my shopping cart as the seller requested without the discounts and upon trying to check out half the items were missing.
Turns out someone else bought 8 of the items I wanted after he relisted them and he sold them to another seller.
Honestly I was mad.
Rather then be honest with me the seller told me he no longer had the item.
I sent him a screenshot of the items sold today from his store.
He came clean and then said he had no control over someone using the buy it now item. Which I understand but still felt he could of just told the other buyer he could not fulfill the request to sell it because it was being paid for for another buyer which was me.
I honestly wasted 3 days talking back and forth with this seller.
Is there anyway to leave any type of negative feedback on their store?

·11 months agoI shall answer your question with a question...Can sellers report buyers for wasting their time?...
NO, but sellers can put those time wasters on a Blocked buyer list!

No,
Feedback retaliation gets a black mark on your account and is removed from the seller's account.
The seller was trying to help.
That they chose a complicated method that did not work is a problem, but not a fault.
Another buyer paid before you could.
I mean how would you feel if you did everything a seller told you to do and they litterally wasted 3 days of your time in doing so.
I'd shrug and move on.
But then I'm a grownup.

OP11 months agoI am basically trying to shrug and move on.
Yes I am an adult and I am trying to handle things the best I can. I understand some things are not in a sellers hands due to how the ebay platform is designed. Especially when it comes to USA to Canada selling/buying.
I am honestly more mad that the seller was more deceitful in telling me they didn't have the item anymore and that they must of sold it a week ago when literally they had the item in their possession the whole time and after they relisted it for me 1 minute later another buyer bought the items. I mean come just be honest with and tell me you made a mistake. Don't lie and try to hide what happened.
There were alot of things the seller could of done to take ownership and make the situation right and they choose really not to.
1) They could of tried to stop the sale of the items to the other buyer and explain the situation to that buyer and they had made a mistake listing the item and the item was for another customer. But yeah that is probably work for the seller and why accept $17.00 for each item when this seller is paying $20.00 per full price.
2) They could of instead offered me a discount on the remaining items as they did before. Instead they wanted me now to pay full price for the remaining items. Initially they sent me a 15% discount through the ebay watched items list which I accepted.
I really don't want to report the seller but I rather not have someone else go through this same experience with this seller.
If they wasted 1 hour of my time I would just move on but not 3 days.
It was honestly not fun.

Well, if someone else bought them and paid for them --- he didn't have them.
First with the money gets the purchase.
There are no dibs.
However.
If this ever comes up again, instead of messing about with carts etc, ask the seller to make you a private listing of all the products with the combined shipping.
KISS
When I do this, I use my customer's ID as the title which make it effectively unSearchable. I also put a deadline on the listing usually of 24 hours.

OP11 months agoThe problem I am having is that I followed this sellers every direction via direct messaging on ebay.
I litterally have 3 days of messages with this seller.
Their store was not set up right for combined shipping even though the seller offers it.
Their items were not listed right.
I put all the items in my cart at their request with a 15% discount they sent me as I had watched the items for 3 days.
Upon purchasing the items 3 out of the 14 were missing.
The seller confirmed all the items are in their store and its problem with their store.
They told me they had to delist and relist the items for me so I could purchase them.
This messed up my cart.
I had to manually remove all the items at the seller's request and to go into their store front page and add them without the discounts.
Finally upon checkout 8 of the 14 items are missing now.
Rather then tell me honestly the items sold they lied to me and told me to simply purchase the remaining 6 items without discounts and at a higher shipping rate.
In all honesty there was alot the seller I felt could of done to remedy the situation but choose not to.
I understand a seller wants to make money buy why screw over a potential client who is willing to buy majority of your items on your store front.
Is there honestly no way to even report this seller to ebay.
Should I just honestly buy the remaning 6 items and after recieving them leave negative feedback?
I mean how would you feel if you did everything a seller told you to do and they litterally wasted 3 days of your time in doing so.

·11 months agoI would like to point out the combined shipping issues are likely not the sellers fault. There have been several people including us that have found that combined shipping sometimes does not work when going between Canada and the USA. Last time we did it we had to end all the listings and makes a custom listing with all the items together.

OP11 months agoI will also try to remember this as a solution in future. That seems like a good idea.
