Estimating Extra Fees for International Shipping?
Summary: A participant initiated a discussion about estimating extra fees for international shipping. marnotom! and ypdc_dennis engaged in the conversation but did not provide specific details or content in their responses.
I'm hoping to buy a Blu-Ray disc from Michigan and I live in Ontario, Canada. The product costs $20USD + $9.50USD shipping. The buyer says they use USPS Media Mail to ship and it's through eBay International Shipping.
What would my total look like after duties, tarrifs, brokerage, taxes, etc?
From my personal research, I would only have to pay extra for any brokerage fees and 13% taxes, as there are no tarrifs on Blu-Ray discs. However, I'm not sure if that's entirely correct.
Any help is appreciated!

eBay International Shipping should have no extra charges since a bluray (if made in North America) will qualify under current CUSMA rules -- under $40 value no sales tax is collected (and no tariff).

·4 months agoCanada has not applied tariffs to most CUSMA goods manufactured in the US. Blu-Ray discs manufactured in the US are not subject to tariffs. Your "import charges" will, as you say, consist of HST plus a brokerage or processing fee, which will probably be around C$12.50 if eBay International Shipping sends the item through DHL eCommerce/Global Post.
I'm confused by your shipping quote, though. Media Mail is only for US domestic shipments. Are you looking at the listing with your shipping location set to the US?

·4 months agoIf the Seller is shipping via eIS ... then Media Mail is correct since it is used to get the shipment to the eIS center in the USA (first leg).
