How do I determine on how much the import fees would be? (Japan-Canada)

Buying & Selling

Buying

I'm planning on buying a $48.68 CAD Nintendo Famicom Disk System from Japan.

Shipping is free.

Also personally I don't know how to determine via the Canadian Customs.

Canada and Japan have a free trade agreement. Both belong to the TPP.

There may still be sales taxes.

Do I have to wait for customs to notify me when parcel arrives? Or is there a way to pay prior

If you sign up for updates with CP it might/should show if there are fees owing/amount prior to any delivery attempt. Most likely it will get carded for you to pick up at your local PO and can pay then. Currently the only way for CP to get a hold of you is if there is a phone number on the label. They don't usually call.
