Apparently, my package was out for delivery and delivered Wednesday 7th to some Carol Stream or Glendale Hgts but has since disappeared into some FedEx or ebay wasteland. How long does it take before the package is going to be shipped to me here in Canada? I find it amusing that I can get a package from China quicker and at a lower cost than from our neighbours to the south. The seller made a point that they shipped the same day but from there, FedEx or ebay dropped the ball . I'm wondering if anyone else has experiences similar or i'm I just lucky.

·4 months agoYup, @pum-3795. The cost of international postage from the US has skyrocketed over the past few years. You can check me, but the cheapest USPS counter rate for sending a lightweight item to the UK is about 17 quid at current exchange rates.
Domestic postage rates have increased, too, which means that the costs to have items forwarded through the eBay International Shipping system can be pretty steep.
Postage rates from China are attractive for the same reason a lot of western companies are now outsourcing the manufacture of their goods in China: labour costs are a lot lower there.

·4 months agoyou have responded to a thread from 2024 and as this is now 2026 there is a much more going on in this world that affects the timeframes/the shipping,etc; so one cannot make comparisons to something from 2 years ago nor expect the subject at hand to be any less complicated now than it was back then.

·1 year agoeBay International Shipping doesn't handle items valued at over US$2500, @pbzt-39, so if it was one of the pricier Ohtani cards you purchased, it may not have made it through the hub for that reason. Also, if the package didn't include documentation supporting the card's or signature's authenticity, it may have dead-ended if there was doubt about that. Looking at the eIS Seller Terms and Conditions, it looks as though the service doesn't look too kindly at counterfeit items.

·1 year agoWaitng for a parcel in the UK. Its been toing and froing for the last four days now between Glendale Heights and Carol Stream, each mentioned four times. Very detailed updates. The parcel must by now be traumatised.

·1 year agoHullo and welcome to the Canadian eBay site, @j-harry. Our advice from the earlier posts on this thread applies here, as well. There's no point in checking the tracking for your widget until it's due to arrive. What happens or appears to happen between the seller's location and yours is largely immaterial.
For what it's worth, what could be happening to your item is that it's attached to a tracking code for a lorryful of goods shuttling between Carol Stream and Glendale Heights and for whatever reason, the lorry's tracking code didn't get cleared properly when your item got checked into Glendale Heights. What you're seeing is the lorry's journey back to Carol Stream despite the fact that your widget isn't on board.

I suppose the update "delivered to individual" is USPS jargon, but if it is the wording used by eBay/eIS it badly requires rewriting.
Too many buyers seem to think this means some random guy in Illiois got their purchase.
Could I suggest "delivered to eBay International Shipping" or "signed for by eIS" or "delivered to loading dock, signature received" as possible alternatives.

·1 year agoAfter reading the latest post on this subject (on another thread), I now think the problem is that a lot of people are checking the tracking on the initial carrier's website rather than on eBay.
I've only made two purchases that were handled through eIS and I can't remember if I was directed to check My eBay if I wanted more information on the tracking, but it looked pretty clear on My eBay that the item was going through a multi-stage delivery process.

·1 year agoIf the last expected date for delivery has passed (and it's not even 10am here on Vancouver Island), you are covered by the Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from that date.
If the seller cannot provide Proof of Delivery (not shipping, delivery) you will be refunded.

Sorry, which date was delivery to Glendale Heights?
The seller's responsibilty for delivery ended on that day, so it has no impact on your Claim.
Be sure to state in your Claim that this is an eIS shipment, because otherwise that "delivery" may confuse the robot that handles it.

Every shipper uses spoke and hub delivery and most also use subcontractors for last mile delivery
This means a shipment can be shipped by USPS to a USPS hub then to the eIS hub in Illinois then to FEDEX who takes it across the border then to UPS Canada to another hub then subcontracted to Bob's Delivery and Pizza for the trip to your house.
And still arrive before the estimated date for delivery.
Just mark the last estimated date for delivery on your calendar and don't get worried until that date passes.

FWIW, in over 40 years selling by mail order, and online selling is still mail order,it takes about 21 days for a parcel to move from anywhere in Canada to anywhere in the USA, and vice versa.
If it's faster, great.
Better to expect something in 20 days and have it arrive in 19 than to expect something in 15 days and have it arrive in 16.
The purpose of tracking is Seller Protection.
The purpose of eIS is Seller Protection.
EBay's Money Back Guarantee only allows Proof of Delivery as proof for an Item Not Received claim.
When your purchase arrived in Glendale Heights, the eIS plant, about half an hour from O'Hare Airport, it is considered "delivered".

·2 years agoThat means it was delivered to a worker at the forwarding hub, @cnr191596. Unless your item is late, which seems doubtful, there’s no need to be checking the tracking at this point.

·2 years agoAs far as I know, FedEx doesn't have anything to do with eBay International Shipping. If you've been seeing FedEx tracking for your item, that's the seller's choice of shipping method for shipping within the US, including to Carol Heights or Glendale Stream or whatever. My latest purchase was forwarded through eIS and after clearing the hub in about three business days it was handled by Asendia with USPS/Canada Post shipping. The actual shipping method may vary depending on the nature of the item and its final destination.
Is your purchase an electronic item? With a lithium-ion battery? Those items tend to take longer to clear the eIS hub--and may not make it out--as eIS is very squeamish about handling items with lithium-ion batteries and they need to be satisfied that the item can be shipped safely.
My advice is to stop worrying about your item and to stop checking the tracking until it's just about due to arrive. I've come to the conclusion that we buyers have been oversold on the value of tracking. It doesn't make our items arrive any faster or in better condition than items sent without it and gives us the illusion that we have some sort of control over the shipment. Once the estimated delivery window has been reached, that would be the time to check to see if there have been problems getting your item to you and, if so, you can then prepare to file a claim for an undelivered item.

·5 months agoThis thread will likely be shut down soon due to inactivity and its age, but I do have to wonder how you know your item has been stolen and not impounded due to non-compliance with eIS program rules or deemed problematic to get through customs clearance. See earlier posts on this thread.
Quite often when users post here complaining of an item “stolen” at the eIS hub, when we find out more about the item, it looks more likely that it met a different fate.
File a claim with eBay for a not-received item if you haven’t already done so and you’re within the timeframe to do so.

If it was delayed and is delivered later, eIS does not want it back.
The seller is not harmed. Their responsibility for delivery ended at the doorstep of the plant.
If you are the seller, your responsibility ended at the doorstep of the plant.
Tell the customer to open a Claim under the Money Back Guarantee.

I'd bet a nickel that @ricgor.jc6qi saw a Message that the shipment was "delivered to an individual" at the plant.
This is poor wording and we've seen upset buyers before.
It just means that the shipment (along with hundreds of others, likely) was accepted by a human being, possibly even signed for, rather than being left on the dock for someone to take inside when they notice.
