If the seller didn't put enough postage on the item does it get returned to them?
I purchased a DVD from someone about 25 miles from me. It was a great price $4.00 with free shipping. Now I know that shipping of the item would cost $4.50 so the seller sold it at a loss. They stated they shipped it May 26. Because it is so close, it should have been here today at the latest it has been 5 working days. I suspect the buyer might have not put enough postage on it. Does it get returned to them or goes into the black hole.

Like others have mentioned in their local areas, mine is also the same. If I ship to someone in Brampton it will go to Mississauga first and then boomerang back to Brampton. Close proximity so sometimes I do get next day delivery in Brampton depending on time of year. This happens with both lettermail or parcel.
As a seller I have had an item returned because I forgot to put the correct postage on. I was missing .25 cents on a couple pieces of letter mail. If I recall the return took a total of 3 weeks from when I mailed it until it was recieved back.
On the other hand also as a seller I have had oversized letermail get through even though I forgot to put the correct postage on. It was just a one off error but when I originally put together the order I was trying to figure out how much of the smaller stamps I needed to make the correct postage. Once I figured out what I needed I forgot to put the stamps on lol The amount was .63 cents.

·2 months agoLots of reasons it can be slow.
The Seller might not have mailed it when they marked it as shipped. That might have been when they had it ready to go, not when the post office got it.
Also matters where they dropped it off (at a post office or in a letter box). Also matters if they dropped it off after the pick up time (which will cause a delay).
It can also have sorting problems if the postal code is hard to read -- with a possible tour of Canada.
And it can be as simple as the postie putting the envelope in the wrong mailbox.
Gotta be patient with lettermail arrival, I usually allow 2 weeks before getting worried (no matter how far it is travelling).

DVDs usually can be mailed for $2.61 (100g and under) or $4.29 (101-200g). If the Seller uses discounted postage stamps (bought on eBay or elsewhere, or they have P stamps they bought before the last price jumps) their mailing cost could be 25-30% less than those prices.

·2 months agoIf the seller took the DVD to a post office/outlet and purchased the postage at the counter, the correct postage would have been purchased for it.
The seller could also have purchased some older, uncancelled stamps at a discount and worked out how much it would cost to apply $4.50’s worth as postage.
Like @intimewithmusic, my letter mail gets processed in Richmond, which is a ferry ride away from me on Vancouver Island. I find that letter mail delivery speed is all over the map. I’d wait until next week before starting to worry.

·2 months agoHi. I'm not sure about the postal routine in your area. Here in Kelowna if I send a letter to my neighbour across the street it goes 400 miles to Richmond for sorting and then back to Kelowna for sorting and then to me across the street. You coan probably find out the path of your item by asking at your local postal outlet.
