Increased costs of shipping. Apple Watch was 30-50$ now 100$+ from USA to Canada
Noticed nearly all US sellers are charging more than 100$ for shipping. Used to be in the region of 30-50$. Still pretty sure that there is duties to come as well. Anyone know why this is?

·11 months agoAs was noted in the other Answer Centre thread you posted to, most sellers in the US are using a glorified forwarding service boringly called "eBay International Shipping" (eIS) to get their items out of the country. The seller ships the item to a hub in suburban Chicago where it gets processed for export and eventually makes it out of there and gets forwarded to its final destination. The buyer pays for two legs of shipping: (1) seller to Chicago, and (2) Chicago to the buyer. Often a few different carriers are involved in the process.
I did a search for Apple Watches and did find one with a pretty reasonable shipping quote and it was being handled as a direct shipment through the postal system. The other ones I found had shipping in the ballpark you mentioned. They were being handled by eIS and it looked like it was pretty much that same cost no matter what country was being specified as the destination.
I have no idea what carriers are being used by eIS to get these watches out of the country, but I do know that USPS cut back the discounts it gives to carriers who use or resell its postage, so that might be some of it. It might also be that the carriers being used for these watches have nothing to do with the postal system and as well all know, couriers tend to be more expensive than the good ol' post office.
