International shipping.

I've been an international member since 2002, remember when we submitted payment via postal money orders? Well, i hope someone can shed some light on international shipping costs from the U.S. Having followed certain auctions closely i'm confused why the international shipping costs increase commensurate to the bid, that is to say that, for example, if the starting bid is fifty U.S. dollars, the corresponding announced international shipping charge is twenty-five U.S. dollars. Now as the auction reaches its climax the high bid for the item in question has risen to two hundred fifty dollars and the shipping charge for that very same item has risen to ninety dollars. Can anyone tell me what is happening re shipping costs rising as they do or am i missing something. Thanks for your help.

·6 months agoWe'd have to see the listing or one like it (even if it's completed) to make a more confident assessment of this, but with what you've said, I'd have to agree with @mrdutch1001 that it looks like some sort of import-related fee or fees is being added to the shipping cost. Is the shipping method for the auction "eBay International Shipping"?

OP6 months agoThanks but i'm paying for the extra costs at the post office before release.

·6 months agoPerhaps, due to the substantial increase in value of the item, there are increased tariffs, duties & taxes added to that shipping cost?
