·4 months agoThe thing you have to remember with eBay International Shipping (eIS) is that it's basically a glorified forwarding service. The seller ships to a hub outside of Chicago. You get charged for that by the seller. The hub ships to your location. You get charged for that by eIS.
I can't find the exact listing you show in your screenshot, but I found a similar one from the same seller, and the charge for shipping to the hub is US$68.15. eIS's share of the shipping charges would be US$52.90. You can figure out the split by changing the shipping location in the listing to US ZIP code 60139, which would show you the cost for shipping the item to the hub.
eIS's shipping quotes are only as good as the information the seller provides on the packaged item's dimensions and weight. If the seller messes up on those or doesn't provide that information, the calculator has to take a guess based on the category in which the item was listed.
Similar items with shipping quotes along the C$30 range that you're talking about might be shipping directly to Canada rather than using eIS.
Hope that makes some sort of sense.
