Is this seller trustworthy?
Hi! I found an item I like but I'm not sure if the seller is reliable.
The seller has 80% positive feedback and some reviews mention delays. What do you usually check before deciding to buy?

·1 year agoWhen I check feedback I usually switch to the old classic view.
I look at the negatives and neutrals the seller has recieved, and whether any are about things I care about. Slow shipping is usually not an issue. Poor packaging, inaccurate descriptions, fakes/counterfeits are all areas of concern.
I also look at Seller responses (if any made) to problems, to get a feel if this a Seller I want to deal with.
I also check to see if all the problems are recent (which can indicate a hijacked account). I also check how long the seller has been on eBay and whether they are a low or high volume seller/buyer.
If it's something I want, 80% positive is just a flag to tell me to investigate before buying.

·1 year agoIf most of the negative feedback is about delays keep this in mind if you need the item by a certain date.
Also 80% negative makes a difference if they have a lot of feedback, versus just a small amount (the percentage will be higher the less they've sold with some negatives.) In any event eBay has a Money Back Guarantee if you don't get your item regardless. Only thing is you will have to wait the alotted amount of time and do the correct steps (open a case, etc.) before you would be refunded.
If it's a hard to find item you decide if it's worth trying. What kind of things do the positive feedbacks say?
I've bought items from sellers with negative feedback in the past and I base it on what the negatives are (in your case it is delays) as well as the positives. If an item is easy to get elsewhere for similar price I'd go elsewhere, but if it's harder to find and a real deal you can decide if worth the risk. Just make sure you open a case (you have to wait until estimated delivery date has past).
If there are too many negatives, cancellations, un-resolved issues eBay will stop them from selling.
As a collector I've bought from people with negatives and always received my items as described but every case can be different.

Most people avoid sellers with less than 98%
I would find a different seller.
