Mandated default payment for the make an offer option
Summary: lotzofuniquegoodies shares information regarding a new beta feature on eBay's 'make an offer' option where payment becomes automatic when buyers accept an offer. They note the uncertainty about its implementation in Canada and lack of official announcements. pjcdn2005 queries whether this feature is still being tested or now fully implemented, and devon@ebay responds that the feature is still rolling out gradually, with plans to notify users once fully available. femmefan1946 expresses concern that such demands for buyer financial information could deter participation and shares feedback from other users who've experienced the testing phase.
An Fyi for anyone interested.
Mandated default payment for the make an offer option. When buyers accept your offer, payment is automatic by my translation.
This appears to be in Beta testing in the USA. Was unable to find an announcement. Unsure when/if it will be coming to Canada or if it does so automatically. (Some buyers have already been enrolled?!?!?) There does not seem to be a work around to combine shipping. Will be interesting to see how this feature will trip over automatic payment required settings.

·3 years agoAlthough there has been a lot of demand for this from sellers, I can't imagine a way to turn off shoppers faster than a demand to turn over their financial information before allowing them to make Best Offers or to bid in an Auction.
And there have been angry posts on dotCOM, where the testing is taking place, from buyers who at least claim to be fast payers that they have stopped bidding when faced with that demand.

·3 years agoThey have been testing that for a long time but I didn't know if it is now in full 'active' mode.
@devon@ebay
Is the automatic payment option for buyers still in the testing stage and only applies to specific buyers? OR is it now applied to all buyers IF the seller has that option enabled?
If it is a full feature now, it it working on both .com and .ca?

Hi @pjcdn2005! This feature is still being rolled out and once it is fully available we will be sure to let buyers and sellers know. For now there is only a certain percentage that have this feature.

For anyone that has this turned on do you find this setting helpful or detrimental to your sales? Or is it working as intended?
