·7 months agoI f you refuse the package it will eventually be returned to the seller.
The seller might then refund you BUT eBay considers a Refused shipment to be Undeliverable and does not require the seller to refund anything at all on an Undeliverable package.
Not a red cent.
So.
I had a similar thing happen with UPS (not an eBay item a $5000 auction purchase coming from the USA)
Having missed us at home for a signature we were told it would be redelivered.
It wasn't.
DH panicked.
We were told it went to our nearby Oak Bay UPS Store the next day.
It wasn't
DH panicked.
We finally found it was going to the Hillside UPS Store.
The clerk there did not know when it would arrive. The drivers can be erratic.
DH panicked.
The package turned up on our third visit to the Hillside store.
Nonetheless.
Rather than waiting for delivery, I would suggest asking that it be delivered to a UPS outlet.
Then confirm that it is there before driving to pick it up.
Because private shippers are sooo much more efficient than the postal system which only delivers packages to the named outlet and gives a reliable time for pickup. /s

·7 months agoThis is probably a customs issue. Do you know if there are duty charges owing? UPS won't usually make a delivery until these have been paid. They used to sometimes leave package and send invoice in mail but I'm assuming too many people never paid that way.
We recently had a similar issue with UPS and our package stuck for several days after showing out for delivery. Apparently they needed to know if we had a customs broker or were allowing them to act on our behalf. Even after we told them we did not have broker and they could act on our behalf it was still held up so I called them and apparently they also had to know if item was for personal or business. This was not an eBay transaction by the way, but it was a package from a supplier we have purchased from several times over the past couple of years and this hadn't happened before. When I called I said we had purchased from this seller many times in the past why was this happening now and they said it was a new policy put in the last couple of months. My guess is they were tired of people complaining about the extra duty/custom/tarriff charges so they now added a step where people can use their own custom broker to save a few bucks.
Obviously this would not be the issue if your package was within Canada but if it was from US or international maybe you were caught in the same loop as us. It might be something different in your case but thought I'd share our experience since it was a new one for us.

·7 months agoNot only UPS. I recently had an order from Indonesia that was initially labelled with Indonisia Post tracking, but ended up forwarded to DHL - this was unbeknownst to me at the time.
The original tracking showed that it reached Canada but without a specific location, and then showing "unable to deliver" for more than a week (updating every business day) Upon contacting the seller, he explained that it was on DHL's hands and provided the air waybill number. With this new info, I was able to track it and found out that it was being held because of due tax/duty/fees (they never bother contacting me🙄). I paid the amount due and got it delivred the same day.
