Why are there multiple shipments for the same item?
Summary: The discussion revolves around the concern of having multiple shipments for the same item. mas_58 initiates the query, questioning why this is happening. ypdc_dennis, among others, responds but no specific resolution or detailed information about the shipment process is shared in the discussion. The thread includes multiple brief and seemingly incomplete responses, indicating perhaps a confusion or lack of clear information regarding shipping procedures. Overall, the discussion does not reach a conclusive answer.
I ordered an item and the package apparently has multiple shipments? One of them was delivered to a community mailbox, which isn’t the shipping address I entered (I set it to my home address). The other shipment is in the international hub and hasn’t been updated in a week when I click track package. EBay still says that the item is on the way (between the 20th and 27th) but below it, it says delivered. In my purchases, it says tracking available, while other items I have received say delivered. Is this normal?

It's my understanding that if there is a community mailbox all your mail (that is being handled by Canada Post) will only go to the mailbox.
No home delivery by Canada Post.
If Canada Post sees the home address, it will automatically change it to the mailbox.
If I understand it, your seller put your purchase in two boxes, and sent them both to the GSP-UK hub.
From there they would be sent to Canada.
Now in my imagination, each box got a different tracking number.
When the boxes reached Canada, two different shippers were chosen for the two boxes.
Box A went by Canada Post, and was delivered to the community mailbox where all your actual mail is delivered.
Box B is still at the hub in the UK or it might be in Canada. I'm not sure what you mean by "international hub". Is there a city mentioned?
It may or may not be shipped by the postal system and delivered by Canada Post. To the community mailbox.
But it has a different tracking number and it is possible that the last mile delivery will be by DHL or CanPar or UPS.
Couriers do not deliver to mailboxes, so it will come to the home address.
Do you have a secure place for it to be left?

Multiple shipments would be just another situation of eBay using bad wording to describe what is going on in the background. It makes it sound like shipment got split when in fact it was just for all intensive purposes, like in football, a hand off
Maybe better would be Revised or updated shipment tracking number?
Good idea concept for a movie. Lost in translation!!!

·4 months agoGSP shipments from UK have tracking for each stage of the process.
Tracking number one is to the hub (where your package is customs cleared),
followed by a final tracking number to you.
The info should indicate who is being used as final-mile carrier.
You need to check with that carrier (using the final tracking number) to see where they actually delivered the package.

OP4 months agoThe carrier delivered it to a mailbox/parcel to an address far from my home. Will they deliver it to my home address (which I’d prefer) or do I have to pick it up there? I did specify my home address to be my shipping address, so I'm confused as to why it was delivered to a mailbox

OP4 months agoUpdate: A Canada Post tracking number was provided
with the message “Sender has created a shipping label. An estimated delivery date will be available when we process your package.” I guess everything is fine and I just need to wait for them to deliver to my home? It hasn't been updated since the 12th.

·4 months agoCanada Post tracking on it's website is currently delayed and has had no updates for a day or two if you are viewing tracking on Canada Post. Ebay tracking is getting up to date tracking from Canada Post though, my guess is it has been delivered. Is it at a post office?
