Why can I not exclude certain items by shipping cost when searching?
Summary: zelthorcards is trying to find a way to filter out listings with a shipping cost over a certain amount while searching for trading cards, as high US shipping fees reduce the value of the cards. However, sorting by shipping plus lowest first mostly shows low-value starting auctions, which isn't ideal. marnotom! mentions that they aren't aware of a direct method to exclude such listings, while mrdutch1001 confirms there are no specific filtering options for shipping costs. They highlight available filters only allow for options like free shipping or local pickup, and reallynicestamps points out existing search sorting methods. eburtonlab suggests a workaround by separating searches into 'buy-it-now' and auction items and reversing the usual sorting order to find high-value variations.
Is there a way to exclude items with a shipping fee over a set amount??

·1 year agoOne possibility is to separate your search into two searches; one just for buy-it-now items, and another just for auctions.
For fixed price listings, try using a price range to limit the number of results to something reasonable, then sort by "Price plus shipping: highest first" and jump to the end of the search results and scroll up.
This causes the results to be sorted backwards from what you are used to, but it also has the effect of sorting variation listings by the highest priced variation within your price range, which is often the variation you are actually interested in.
