Worried about preorder what do I do?
Summary: ramprime is seeking advice after purchasing a preorder item on eBay in 2023 that has not been shipped or responded to by the seller, despite attempts to contact them. The item is supposed to be shipping in November 2024, but the seller has been unresponsive for over a month and a half, raising concerns the seller may not use eBay anymore. brettjet38 advises that the situation may have been a scam and refers to eBay’s presale policy which mandates shipment within 40 business days. They suggest checking with the credit card company if a chargeback is possible. mrdutch1001 highlights the difficulties in recovering funds at this stage due to time limitations on chargebacks and emphasizes it as a hard lesson learned. The thread showcases the risks associated with long-term preorder transactions and difficulties in recourse after significant time has passed.

Even if paid by credit card, most credit card companies have a maximum of 120 day window to do a charge back...
Sorry, but a hard life lesson you have learned...

Presale policy
Presale listings must clearly state that they are “presale” in the title and description, and guarantee shipment within business 40 days of purchase.
In order to protect buyer and seller guarantees, presale listings must follow eBay policy, including listing the date the item will be available to ship.
What is the policy?
Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.
Why does eBay have this policy?
This policy helps ensure our customers are protected by eBay buyer and seller guarantees.
If you paid with a credit card your only option may be a "Chargeback"
