does anyone use the ebay international shipping program? i opted out of it because ebay was charging huge shipping fees to buyers. and no one was buying.

·1 week agoAre you maybe confusing import fees with shipping charges? Are you not using Calculated shipping with the EIS program?

·3 weeks agoYou don't really need to fully opted out, you can use a hybrid approach. You can create shipping policies! Some for eIS and and others without it. Use them as they fit the situation.

I find it funny when a seller lists something like a collector card for $250,000. and then wants another $450 to ship it in a padded mailer with no inner packing. Just as funny as the guy who ships it for free. Gee, thanks ...

I think the reason eIS was charging "huge shipping fees" to your buyers is because the Checkout calculator didn't have information on your sunglasses' shipping dimensions and weight.
Now your US buyers are seeing a misleading (to put it diplomatically) message that they'll have to "pay import fees to the shipping carrier prior to delivery."

They know their budget better than you.
The "huge fees" include sales taxes, duty, and tariffs which are payable no matter how the item is shipped.

·1 month ago32% of my sales this year have been through eIS. That isn't far off what it was other years when I was shipping direct. It really depends on what you're selling and what your target market is.
If you're selling general, popular, easy to find items or low cost widgets then eIS isn't going to work well for you. That said, you probably have a decent domestic market for those things anyway. If you're selling rare, higher value items people will pay higher shipping prices because they want it and chances are you're one of the only people in the world they can buy it from.
