SPEAKER TWEETERS FAILED TO PASS INSPECTION AND EBAY CANCELLED THE SALE !

I recently sold a pair of videoton soft dome speaker tweeters that were destined to be shipped to the UK , it was shipped using the EBAY GLOBAL SHIPPING SYSTEM ,
shortley after it arrives at their shipping hubs and then i get a message from EBAY stating the sale is cancelled , buyer refunded , i get to keep the sale funds .
after enquiring for an explanation i was told that the tweeters posed some sort of risk and violeted customs safety regulations !!!
i suffered no loss and the tweeters were destined to be DESTROYED !!!
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON HERE ?

They cannot be shipped to the UK
Both you and the buyer were reimbursed by eIS/eBay.
The speakers will be destroyed? -- or did it say "liquidated"?
Liquidation means they will be sold within Canada to recoup the loss eBay takes on the refused shipment.

So many better options out there and I wish ebay wouldnt push this lazy one size fits all solution on their sellers just to pad their own pockets.
I wouldnt be surprised if your listing was simply denied for using a no-no word by ebays AI. Theres a high chance a human didnt review the package at all. These days AI is moderating things in a very heavy handed sort of way.
Its all about their bottom dollar at the end of the day. Its cheaper for AI in its infancy to make all sorts of heavy handed and bad decisions than it is to hire actual humans to moderate using AI minimally as a discretionary tool.

·2 weeks agoAnd yet it's much better than trying to brave the wild west of tariff regulations nowadays of your own, and allow sellers to keep their business. At least that's my experience.

·2 weeks agoNot really. All you have to do is keep track of your HTS codes for what you sell, keep track of the country of origin, keep track of the tariffs and then apply all of that via package info.
Chit chats, stallion express, UPS Netparcel, Canada Post with Zonos, and probably even Swiftpost are all better than EIS.
EIS is great if you just cant be bothered to keep up to date with tariff news or your products HTS/ COO.
I mostly sell handmade stuff so for me using something like chitchats or stallionexpress has been ideal to get the CUSMA preferential treatment at the border but also EIS is incredibly restrictive on what you can sell. Anything thats not a pair of shoes or a mickey mouse cup seems to get confiscated and labeled as hazardous!
Anyways- no matter how you slice it the only real benefit to the EIS (for some sellers because EIS restricts most things from even being shipped via their program!) is convenience. Using EIS means you dont have to follow the news or know much about what youre selling. Just snap some pictures and list it. I want full control over my business and as much of a competitive edge as I can possibly get and the EIS is the antithesis of that on every level from cost to speed to restrictions etc.
Anyways, good luck to you! and I seriously do recommend looking into those shipping programs I mentioned. The only downfalls using them is you lose the convenience of EIS and you will have to deal with ebays goofy tariff warning on your listings (which isnt even factually correct btw but thats a whole other topic).
