I have buyers asking similar things somewhat regularly. I also am a very patient seller in terms of awaiting funds. What I do in these situations is advise that I do not hold items for folks. The option they have is to purchase the item and not pay for it, they can wait till they have the full amount but they only have 30 days (I have my automagic unpaid case timing set to the maximum 32 days).
