This week I sold a 2009 listed item that has been running as a GTC for 17 years. (I think the old record was 11 years). I thought it must be close to being one of my originals to when GTC was introduced, but according to AI GTC became an option in 2006 (I was only running on .COM at that time). I adopted GTC as soon as it was possible so it is possible the record could still be broken again, I'll have to check to see if I have any others older than this running still when I have time to spare!
Most astonishingly it doesn't appear to have sold via promotion. I have graduated promotion levels for the "oldest" half of my 5,000+ items, with the oldest having the largest discount. I have had other 5+ year items sell this week via promoted listings, unless this one has a delayed assessment*, it appears to have been found directly, which I don't mind!
*I see looking back that I do have promoted fees showing up day(s) later so I expect this will get zapped eventually but I don't mind, it is good to have some of the oldest stuff moving this week!
Have a great weekend!

·4 months ago17 years? Most of the stuff in my local thrift store is Victorian, meaning donated by the actual Victorians. ;>}

·4 months agoha ha....that's great. I've got some items where the time to sell is infinity because they have never sold since the day i listed them over 25 years ago. But fingers crossed they'll go soon....lol.

OP4 months agoIt probably bears mentioning that I do sell material from around the world so "long haul" items are not uncommon for me. If I list a group of stamps from Albania, the number of Albanian collectors in North America is small so it can take a long time for the right person to find the item. Albania is actually an example were most of the groups end up going directly to Albania which is interesting in itself.
Of course over, or incorrect pricing can end up in the long hall category too. I do from time to time try to reevaluate the pricing of the old stuff that's value may have fallen since listing time.
In this case though, finally a collector of this obscure material finally found the lot so I am happy, especially since it had escaped repricing downward in all that time and so far promoted fees too!
