Additional charge on Canada Post Expedited Lite shipping label

Hi, I sold an item and purchased a Canada Post Expedited Lite shipping label through ebay for C$7.79. My parcel was well under the 200g weight requirement for Expedited Lite, which is why ebay offered this option after I entered my parcel dimensions and weight. I only purchased the label once. Well, I was expecting my credit card to be charged for the shipping once I recieved a payout a few days later, but I did not expect to be charged an additional C$9.37. The shipping cost now shows as C$17.16 in the "What you earned" section with no way to see what the adjustment was for. Is this a mistake? Can someone please help me understand what happened?

OP5 months agoHi, I just spoke with Canada Post via live chat. The audited dimensions for the box were correct but the weight was slightly off (14g) which was an error on my end. Thanks for the help, and yes i also confirm that I have two separate charges for the label and the corresponding credit transaction for both.

·5 months agoWhat dimensions and weight did they give back to you?
This sounds more like an erroneous mis-charge case. This was very common last year with Expedited Lite, and probably still happens. If dimensions were correct and you had your weight under 200g and Canada Post is saying an amount only 18g off, then the actual weight and VE weights are under the new 250g specification for Expedited Lite. The specifications changed from being only 200g to 250g (with LxWxH less than 3,220) recently.
The many times I've asked for weight, Canada Post has told me they don't have the actual weight with scans. Instead they have the greater of actual weight and Volumetric equivalent (VE). VE is calculated from LxWxH ÷ 5000. If the VE weight they have is different from this amount, then it's an actual weight heavier than the VE.
If the dimensions multiplied LxWxH is less than 3,220 and the weight Canada Post gave you was under 250g then this was an error. You would have to contact ebay support to attempt to get refunded the extra if it has not automatically been refunded. Refunds used to show up as separate 'adjsutment' transactions.

·5 months agoThis happens when Canada Post charges the full Expedited Parcel rate on Exp Lite labels.
This can be caused by actual dimensions being audited and above the specifications, or more likely wrongfully applied by Canada Post.
You should have two transactions for the label? One will be the Expedited Lite label charge you expected, and a second charge to make up the difference of the full Expedited Parcel rate for the parcel ($17.16). You might also have a credit transaction matching the second charge, if you do then this was automatically corrected with a credit.
You can try to contact Canada Post (via chat) just to verify the package's dimensions during their audit processing. Some chat agents will tell you this information, others will not. You just have to enter 'Agent?' a few times in the Canada Post chat to get a chat agent instead of the AI. Or phone them. This would confirm if your package dimensions Canada Post has determined fit the size limit or is a mistake.

Was it in a box, bubble mailer or poly bag where dimensions could have changed?
