Anyone else's sales to the US fall off a cliff after the Jul 30 Tariff announcement?

I'm specifying "sales to the US" because I actually have had some sales (non-US... one is UAE, the others are in various parts of Canada).
On my dot com store which is marketed to US buyers it's been crickets mostly for two days. (There were a few banknote sales there, but what I packed up this morning was for Canada).
It was kind of as if the tariff announcement paralyzed all US buyers into not buying any international items anymore. I've been sending offers on the dot com store (and specified to buyers that they will be shipped as domestic US shipments since I can still use Stallion until the end of August). Normally the offers result in some sales, but it's kind of as if they read "I am in Canada, but..." and then stopped reading, no one is taking me up on the offers.
Perhaps it's just how things go, but I kind of feel like time stopped when that announcement came out.
I also have severe anxiety and although my anxiety can cope with a few quiet days, it's the uncertainty of the future that makes me stressed since I don't know how everything is going to work out for my store. I've also developed some more advanced symptoms of anxiety (chest pains, already been told I'm not sick and don't need medical care for this), so I can only conclude when reading something that upsets me that my symptoms are anxiety related.

·1 year agoPretty much, about 80% reduction. Americans don't really understand tariffs (they barely understood state taxes when Ebay finally began charging them) and after having had no import costs, no taxes for years and free shipping, the thought that the gravy-train has come to a screeching halt has them running scared. Throw-in the silly, pseudo-patriotic "buy American" (or Canadian) and you have a freeze on cross-border purchases.

·1 year agoAgreed. I have a large number of non-sports cards that I collected years ago and still like to look at them from time to time.
Also have a number of sports cards that my son collected 40:years ago when he was young. They are fun to look at too, but I am a nostalgia nut, so ...

·1 year agoI ended my 22K items about 2.5 weeks ago. I am doing an inventory and reposting everything as I check I have it, so sales have been slow because of that. (I have found over 1000 items that were listed at one time and not listed so far, still 11K items to check lol)
Sales were pretty slow in my sports card world since June anyhow, but I would say this years been a bit worse then past years.

·1 year agoI was on time away over the last week, but since taking it off yesterday 5 US sales. I am pricing it well though in anticipation of the de minus ending.

·1 year agoFear and confusion on the part of US buyers would be a factor.
Especially for those whose customers are still in the work force where job creation is way down and unemployment is creeping up.
My customers tend to be comfortably retired, so while I have an uptick in overseas sales, my US sales seem steady for the time of year.
Summer has never been a good sales period for me, over the past 40 years in retail B&M or online.
A week is too short a period for comps. Especially comparison to the previous week or month. We do have to use last year or 2023 or 2024

·1 year agoTBH, for me sales everywhere are way down in 2025. It started with the PO mess last November that crippled Christmas sales and hasn't recovered since. Uncertainty is not helping at all. Normally I would be aggressively out there hunting for interesting items to sell but I'm not looking at all. All good things come to an end but I never envisioned it being this way.

OP1 year agoMy sales for 2025 are 50% of what they were in 2024 (for the same period of time). It's gone down since the election (well since January, I think I might have been OK until "he" took office).
But it seems every time there's a new announcement at the White House, more of my customers get scared to buy from me. Everyone knows I'm in Canada (or at least they find out from the business card in the package), so even if they didn't have a problem before, the White House announcements suggest there will be a problem soon, so safer not to buy from Canada.

·1 year agoYes, sales have fallen off a cliff, but I would also be inclined to blame ebay. What have they done in the background? Changed defaults to US only, for example?
Also, I noticed something weird yesterday while searching for something via Google. The ebay landing page showed items with NO COUNTRY attached to them (couldn't tell where they were being sold from). When I searched for the exact same thing via ebay itself, the search was as normal.
Also, I wish ebay would recognize that items shipped via the POST OFFICE to USA are NOT currently being affected, de minimus tariff wise. (there have been a few reports of return to sender happening, but all other info points to postal items NOT being affected yet.)
