·1 month agoYes having the same issue thru Etsy. One parcel was last scanned Aug 27 and hasn't moved since. I also opened a ticket with Canada Post to investigate and the buy is getting anxious . It has happened a few times in the past as.well. They definitely have a backlog and delays as.long as 2 or 3 weeks.

·1 year agoI have three orders going to the US.
The one I sent last Thursday has been sitting at ISC Chicago since Sunday; no scan, no info. The other two should be getting into the US today, so I'll monitor them and see what happens.

·1 year agoThe USA pkg I have referenced in this thread sat in Chicago 6 days without movement, or any further info until Day 6 when there were multiple scans/times of info to indicate that the pkg went from "item processed" to "Delivered"

·1 year agoMine arrived in Chicago this morning.
Keeping an eye on it for the buyer. It's the only Canada Post Tracked packet one I've sent since the tariffs on China started.

·1 year agoSince June 16, we've had 8 marked as made in China small diecast cars successfully delivered to USA going through Chicago.
2 skipped customs with no delays.
So far lucky and 0 have come back to us.
Not expensive items, less than $40C value, most only $10-$20C
Shipped in boxes, ebay Tracked Packet - USA labels in a clear label sleeve, marked as coo China (9503.00.90), dropped off at a Shoppers DM post office in Winnipeg. I put an invoice behind the label in the same sleeve, with the longer item description showing (and inside).
We have no non-China items sent to USA to compare to.
Our order date/delivery dates have been:
June 16 - July 2
June 19 - June 28 (skipped customs)
June 20 - July 5
July 7 - July 16 (skipped customs)
July 9 - July 22
July 9 - July 24
July 11 - July 22
July 28 - Aug 6 (the California one I previously posted above, delivered today)
July 30 - (customs Aug 1 to Aug 6) PVC bendy toys
Aug 2 - in transit to Toronto (holiday delay)
Aug 4 - in transit to Toronto

·1 year agoOne of my items to Illinois is stuck there since 6 days (now 3 days late). The idiot buyer already opened a INR dispute... 😡
Here is the message I got from Ebay: Your funds are on hold until this request is resolved. Imagine!!!! 😠

·1 year agoThe item referenced in previous posts above has now moved on to USPS and is "Out for delivery" to the recipient in Chicago......whew!

·1 year agoI hope mine will be too. BTW, I am not sure how many items I shipped to the US - 30K, maybe 40K?
NONE of them was lost ever, but many were late until max. 4-5 weeks.

·1 year agoThere's been some bad luck with INRs relating to the USPS issues and Canada Post issues.
I have a package that was dispatched to the US today (so it should be arriving at Customs this week). I'm keeping an eye on it. I already let the buyer know there are huge delays at customs, and there's 1 China coin in the package. (Buyer wasn't thinking when they ordered about China tariffs, this suggests to me that on Aug 29 there will still be many buyers not thinking about tariffs). Anyway I had no choice, had to ship it Canada Post Tracked Packet. Stallion won't accept it with a single China coin in the package and I'm not about to risk getting a fine or banned from Stallion for trying to circumvent the regulations.

·1 year agoOne of my items to Illinois is ...(now 3 days late).
Respond with the tracking number showing that it is in transit.
Do NOT expect eBay to do this for you.
Do it yourself.

·1 year agoYes, I did. Additionally, I did open a USPS search request, which worked immediately. The item has been found next day! 😁

·1 year agoI'm feeling very fortunate. I had 2 items going to Texas mailed on July 28. Being in Western Canada they went to Vancouver then a sorting facility in California. I look and both were successfully delivered today August 5.

·1 year agoHad one go through fairly quickly this week already I dropped off Monday...(tracked packet, China)
Didn't get an inbound out of customs status and often don't get those, but it's moved on past customs to distribution already.

·1 year agosimilar for me ....I shipped a CP Tracked Pkt item (a made in/printed in Canada pattern booklet) , shipped 3 days ago to the USA...tracking had indicated that the item had been presented to customs, then, "Processed Through USPS Facility,(USPS Chicago sorting facility)....BUT now the tracking shows that the "item has been sent to customs"...???.... if this is going to be a problem, that will indeed be my last shipment to the USA...

They may be holding up delivery until when the constituency lines get creatively redrawn by the Republicans prior to the mid terms!!! I believe Chicago is mostly Democrat.

Your shipment arrived in Chicago Thursday July 31.
It went to Customs.
On August 2 it left "international" -> at a guess that means it passed Customs
It got to the domestic centre on Sunday
On Monday August 4, it left Chicago. -> after passing through an assortment of screening machines to make sure it goes to the right state/city/zipcode.
Four days.
Over a weekend.
Don't look at the number of screenings, those are for internal use.
In fact, once you have noted the last estimated date for delivery, don't watch tracking at all.
Our order date/delivery dates have been:
On average about 10 days ?
If this bothers you (or more importantly, your customers) extend your handling time.
Or choose a service that is slower.
Then ship the way you have been.
Promising less than you actually provide is a winning policy.

·1 year agoANYTHING that goes through Chicago (workforce "issues?") can be delayed, and it's been that way for YEARS.

OP1 year agoThe almost impossible happened. My lost package resurfaced on late Tuesday evening via tracking and was delivered today. The tracking agent even sent me a email on Monday that he/she could not locate the package or confirm delivery and was referring my service ticket to the claims department...

·1 year agoMy Indiana one got delivered this morning.
So of my recent three, all delivered or have had updates after clearing customs now.
All these were coo China $12/$20/$30

·1 year agoThank you SO much for these updates!! This thread is so helpful. I am in a similar boat. Sent my first package to California in a while. No updates after Inbound Out of Customs July 20, 2025, 1:37 pm. Hopefully, it'll be delivered soon now. It sucks that they don't provide regular tracking and we're stuck here playing the guessing game on when it might be delivered.

·1 year agoMy 3rd in transit package got an update tonight.
Mine are getting quicker except the second one, only going few hours away in Indiana still has no status after clearing customs at same time as other package July 18 6:48am I posted above.
I just have the 3 items in transit currently. Haven't had any of the 8 or 9 so far since I started shipping to US again mid June come back to me yet, with two skipping customs at Chicago completely.

·1 year agoNot sure why you are blaming these delays on USPS, it's US Customs that are causing the delays.

OP1 year ago"Not sure why you are blaming these delays on USPS, it's US Customs that are causing the delays".
The main problem seems to be after the package clears customs. There doesn't seem to any tracking updates like the packages dropped off the face of the earth (from a earlier post that you may have missed).
Customs is predictable and consistant with updates.

·1 year agoI think @marnotom has a service that is better at tracking than eBay/USPS/Canada Post.
Maybe "parcelapp"? Not sure of the name
jtg204
·1 year agoOne of mine has got past Out of Customs status (Made in China, Tracked Packet USA):
I have a second package sent at same time, with same Out of Customs timestamp, destination is closer in Indiana but it has no update/scans yet.

·1 year agoAll items I ship to the US pass through customs in Chicago. I mailed an item via 'Canada Post - Tracked Packet - USA' on June 30 with an expected delivery date of July 10. After a scan on July 2 in Toronto, there were no further tracking updates until it arrived in the buyer's Texas town on July 14 (after no tracking updates for twelve days!). It was delivered that day. Fortunately the buyer was very understanding.
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
·1 year agoI'm shipping some specific items via Canada Post, I've reached out to all those buyers to let them know of the delays in Chicago (where my items pass through) and to please be patient for delivery. Hopefully they don't file an INR the day after it's due and reach out to me first.

·1 year agoYes, still delays on every single one of my US-bound packages shipped through Canada Post, without exception. Nothing "Made in China". Average of 8 days or so spent in customs, although in my cases once they're scanned "Inbound Out of Customs" they typically start moving within the USPS system at a regular pace. I haven't experienced anything similar to your first tracking example with no updates for a week.

·1 year agoYeah still noticing delays but not as bad as before. Maybe 5 days in customs instead of 10 now

OP1 year ago"Yeah still noticing delays but not as bad as before. Maybe 5 days in customs instead of 10 now."
Now, it's not the customs delays as much as no tracking scans after it recieves outbound from customs status. It's like the packages disappeared.

·1 year agoWhat is the last estimated date for delivery?
Both packages seem to have been in transit for about 10-12 days before passing Customs.
But both have passed Customs.
I've been selling by mail order since the 1970s and allow three weeks for delivery between the USA and Canada because that has been the high end average in all those decades.
When I started it was faster to get shipments to or from the UK , an average of about 10 days. That period has increased in the 21st century.
The hold up seems to be US Customs.
Those officers must be very stressed with changes to tariffs coming at them practically every hour.
I assume you are using HS codes and recording the Country of Origin on all your shipments.

The first package is: Running behind, original estimate was Mon, Jul 7 - Wed, Jul 9
This package I upgraded to Expedited-USA from my normal Tracked Packet-USA as an experiment to see if there would be less of a delay... I phoned Canada Post for an update on the service ticket I opened last weekend and they said a tracking agent would be intouch with me by the 23rd of July.
The second package is: Arrives Tue, Jul 15 - Tue, Jul 22
This package, I will be opening a service ticket for on Wednesday or Thursday if I don't get a tracking update.
The main problem seems to be after the package clears customs. There doesn't seem to any tracking updates like the packages dropped off the face of the earth. I'm monitoring all my packages closely to see if a nefarious pattern develops.
All packages are clearly marked with COO and proper HTS codes.

·1 year agoI've only sent one item to the States recently (it was an item I had listed on dot com and forgot about, fortunately made in USA). It arrived in Toronto on the morning of the 11th and there haven't been any updates since.

OP1 year ago99.9% of my inventory is Made in USA and there's nothing but customs delays and lack of tracking scans. I'm not even happy when I make a sale to the USA now as of lost faith in their postal system.

·1 year agoIs using a cross border courier an option for you? Like Chit Chats (that's supposed to be expanding so more people in Canada can use them)?
I use Stallion Express and my packages clear at Niagara Falls within 1-2 days. My understanding is they were vetting their clients to avoid having packages made in China crossing, if your items are made in USA and marked as such, you'll have no problems with Chit Chats or Stallion Express.

OP1 year ago"Is using a cross border courier an option for you? Like Chit Chats (that's supposed to be expanding so more people in Canada can use them)?"
No, live an hour from the border (I'm in Winnipeg). I don't have time for anything else other than Canada Post. I've never had trouble like this since selling in 2006. It's very disheartening.
sapphyres-designer-jewellery
·1 year agoSince Chit Chats is expanding their network to include Purolator locations as drop spots, you should have no problem finding a place in Winnipeg to drop off your packages. You print your labels at home like you do with Canada Post. I'm not sure where they are on their plans to expand, it might not be possible to do this yet, but should be possible later on.

I don't print my shipping labels at home. I fill out the Canada Post customs form on-line and print a copy and take it with me to my local postal office and have them scan it and print the label. I'm getting to old to change my ways now. It's worked for me flawlessly for many years....
