Bogner-Winter-Jacke, TEAM-Germany, "neuwertig", blau, Größe 38
Summary: tuckhouse2021 reported an issue with an eBay invoice request where item titles appeared in German and the amounts were lower than the original sold prices, with images of poor quality accompanying the request. They sought advice on how to proceed with sending a correct invoice. pjcdn2005 and others offered suggestions, such as taking screenshots or resizing images to better explain the situation. tuckhouse2021 noted that the discrepancy persisted with a buyer from Sweden, and ricarmic identified it as a known bug affecting Canadian sellers, relating to currency conversion errors. Additional participants provided insights, linking similar issues on eBay discussion boards and confirming that the problem had been acknowledged but not yet resolved by eBay support. The discussion highlighted confusion among sellers about the invoicing process, especially across different eBay sites, and the challenges of dealing with currency discrepancies.
I received a request for an invoice with combined postage. All of the titles of my items were replaced with the German title above and all the sold for values have been replaced with lower numbers. The items did not sell for the amount given on this page when compared to the sold price on the listing page. The photos are of my items but are all blurry and really poor quality.
Has anyone else seen this?. I called customer support and they were not aware of it but I read the .com discussion boards and it is showing up there.
I am not sure how to proceed with sending a correct invoice. I am unable to include a photo that is small enough to be accepted.

This really is an embarassment to eBay, I'm having to explain this to buyers and it has been happening for weeks.
Here's today's order of mine with the same issue... sales record number: 44869 (they subsequently paid the fixed amount, this is the order number or it: 13-11007-85661)
Here's what I wrote to the buyer:
Hi BUYERNAME! THX for your purchases! At the moment eBay is BROKEN for cross site multi item purchases, the items you've purchased are on .CA and are listed in $C however at invoicing time eBay erroneously converts them to the US$ equivalents but left them in $C which means the prices are about 30% too low compared to what they were running at before you purchased them. The price for these 3 lots was $18.99 $C, $15.99 $C and $9.99 $C plus the shipping costs. I'm not sure what you saw them as before they were purchased but now they'll show as lower, or they will when I issue the invoice. You were of course correct that I do combine purchases, all 3 lots will ship for the shipping price of one lot, ie $9 Canadian (and I use nice stamps on the packages).
The eBay support staff have advised that the only way to fix this is to put the missing/dropped value in as "shipping" so now you'll see the shipping number increased above the $9 $C combined total to "fix" the ebay error. Hopefully you can see the drop that's happened from before you purchased the items. If this concerns you, alternatively, I can cancel these 3 items and relist as 1 Item special only for you at the correct price ($44.97 $C) and with the combined shipping cost ($9 $C) for a total of $53.97 $C. Either way is fine by me.
I am sorry for all the ebay confusion/trouble here, I really hope they fix this soon, this has been a problem for weeks!

OP2 years agoI have yet to respond to the current invoice request. The first time this happened the buyer paid in an effort to be helpful and I lost money, the next time I explained to the buyer, he paid straight away realizing he was getting a deal. I mailed off the packages and did not refund any for the combined shipping so I got a bit of money that way but it makes me look like a bad seller as I did not combine the postage and give them a refund as they would normally expect.

·2 years agoHow about ditch the invoices and go to immediate payment for listings until the dust settles on the glitch?
reallynicestamps
·2 years agoGood suggestion, but doesn't work with combined invoices or with Best Offer Accepted.
tuckhouse2021
OP2 years agoIt made no difference how or when the payment is made. As soon as the buyer purchases or commits, regardless of whether or not they pay, the error is made by Ebay by not changing the currency sign in front of the price number.
I sent a note to one buyer who had commitedd to purchase asking him to await an invoice for the correct amount and explained the problem and he went right ahead and paid realizing that he was getting a cheaper price because of the error.
The problem seems to be fixed for me but I am still out over 100.00 on the error.
byto253
·2 years agoDid it happen with immediate payment? Just wondering if it is a glitch only when an invoice needs to be issued, which does not happen with immediate payment.
tuckhouse2021
OP2 years agoI don't have immediate payment as a requirment.
If the buyer wanted to pay, the incorrect price would be paid. He can pay without me sending an invoice.
It is still hapeening to me.
I just received an order and a request for a combined invoice and all the sold for prices are incorrect.

OP2 years agoNot yet but I think that Devon is now looking into it.
I have a total of 5 orders now with the incorrect pricing and did start another thread titled--
Invoices and sold for prices are not reflecting the correct selling price in Canadian funds.
I no longer get the German title that the first two orders started with but the pricing is all wrong still.
Ebay is not actually changing the dollar or currency symbol from US or Euros to Canadian or vice versa.
For example, a sale of 125.00 Canadian dollars gets converted to 93.87 US dollars but then shows on the invoice as 93.87 Canadian dollars so I don't get paid the selling price.
The shipping costs added are also done incorrectly in the same way.

Hi @reallynicestamps! This is something that was reported on the US Community boards as well. I have reported it on my end and am still trying to chase down the root for what could be causing this issue. I will be sure to fill you in once I hear something back.

·2 years agoI don't think a link to this thread has been posted yet, but I think it's the most useful of the .com ones on this subject:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Bogner-Winter-Jacke-TEAM-Germany-quot-neuwertig-quot-blau-Gr%C3%B6%C3%9Fe/td-p/34155696
The OP of that thread managed to resolve the problem themselves by sending their own invoice and it made the "bad invoice(s)" go away once paid. I'm not sure if the issue the OP of this thread is having is that they don't know how to send an invoice on their own or if they think they have to do something extra special to circumvent this glitch, but it does seem to be pretty straightforward to deal with this, as annoying as it must be.
pjcdn2005
·2 years agoI hadn't seen that one yet but the issue isn't that the op doesn't know how to send an invoice. The issue is that the wrong amount is showing on the request as well as the wrong title. Other sellers have recently reported that the wrong amount was on their invoice request and they did NOT receive the full amount. So it doesn't sound all that straightforward to me.
marnotom!
·2 years agoAre these sellers simply accepting the invoice from the request request or are they starting from scratch by sending out combined/revised invoices on their own steam?
Forgive me if I'm a bit clueless here. My wife and I sold in eBay's Bronze Age before the site had its own invoice system.
pjcdn2005
·2 years agoOnce the request was made the only options are to revise the shipping total or leave it the same. The item price can never be changed. This has nothing to do with what the different sellers have done or not done.

marnotom!
·2 years agoSo what did the seller in the thread I found do, then? I read it as that they sent an entirely new invoice from scratch.
pjcdn2005
·2 years agoHe sent the invoice. When a seller goes to send an invoice whether it's from an invoice request or not, all of the information is laid out for them. They don't enter each item and there is no such thing as starting from scratch. The only thing they can change is shipping.
I think that sending the invoice worked for that seller and other US sellers because the item costs were correct. I'm assuming that their buyers were not international. The titles for each listing were wrong but the invoice amount was correct. The invoice requests for the Canadian sellers had the wrong title and the wrong amount for each item. I don't know if the incorrect amount is just a Canadian problem or if it is a problem with the request function whenever a buyer is international
tuckhouse2021
OP2 years agoThanks for all everyone's help. Overnight my buyer in Sweden in an effort to help out, has paid. They paid the incorrect amount so I amount of pocket on this transaction.
I can not send an invoice with a different sale price that ebay says.
I realize that I could have added the extra 20.00 Cdn or so to the shipping but that is very confusing to a foreign buyer seeing as they had requested combined shipping and were expecting a reduced bill.
I have called ebay several times and was told that a ticket had been made but each call was to a new person who had no idea of this issue even though I have read on the US discussion boards that other sellers had similar problems.
Possibly many didn't even notice that the price on the invoice was different than the sale price on the sold items page.
I will call ebay again in an effort to get a credit or the missing funds replace but am not hopeful and this process has been tedious. Hopefully I did not lose a buyer and can be thankful that the purchase was relatively small. Thanks again for the help/discussions.

·2 years agoI could be wrong, but I think you are experiencing this issue, it is showing your $C in the equivalent amount of Euros but it leaves the amount as Canadian.
It is a known bug, at least for stuff sold on .COM by us Canadians.
Here is the info on it:
https://community.ebay.ca/t5/Seller-Central/Invoices-Problems-CAD-and-USD/m-p/502697#M150198
pjcdn2005
·2 years agoI think that you are right as the listing on ebay.de shows as 21.73 Euros. You said in your post on the other thread that
'I did not notice till this morning that the $C one ($9.99 $C) showed up in the equivalent US$ amount ($7.34 $C) but still in $C on the $C invoice. I was paid based on the WRONG lower $C version on the $C invoice. '
So you were underpaid right? Is so, it would stand to reason that the op would be paid the wrong amount too.
But another thing that I find really strange is that the title of the listings on the invoice was in German (it's in English on .de) and that another poster in Ontario encountered the same thing with the same title. It's all very strange. https://community.ebay.com/t5/Report-eBay-Technical-Issues/BUYERS-REQUEST-for-TOTAL-ERROR-Bogner-Winter-Jacke-TEAM-Germany/m-p/34176906

·2 years agoYes I got ripped for $2 (ie yes the invoice and payment was for the wrong and smaller amount) fortunately it was a cheap item it happened on.
The buyer might be from Germany, I've had the (or part of) invoice be in German in times past when it was a German buyer buying something, so that part doesn't surprise me. (Its worse if they open a case, if I recall it opens on the German site and all was in German, maybe they've fixed that now).

Is the buyer in Germany? They may be sending the request through eBaydot DE which would explain the titles.
Is it even the same person?
Did you realize that you offer the US shipping rate to all your international customers?
You can make a separate-lower- rate for USA which overseas customers cannot access.
The lowest Tracked Packet International rate is $24.89 while we get substantial discounts on US Tracked Packet - from ~$7.00 up.

I'm confused as the titles in German don't appear to be an translation of the English title. It sounds as if they are for totally different items. Is the buyer in Germany? You did receive the request for invoice in your eBay
Have you ever sent out offers to watchers of those items?

Do the purchases show up on your eBay page? If they don't your spidey senses should trigger. You can send a revised invoice from there if they are actual purchases. When the amended invoice sends it will translate automatically for you.

OP2 years agoThanks but the actual invoice ebay page is in English. It is just the title of my items that was replaced with the German one. I can't change the selling price on the invoice as eBay won't allow. I do not know what shows at the buyers end.
My listing --art nouveau, lady sitting on elaborate seat, in green dress, Tuck 2561, ebay number 234902508372 shows that is sold for 31.85 Can. yet the ebay invoice and order details shows 23.77 Can. when I try to send an invoice.
The second listing--glamour woman, art nouvuea style character study, paper scraps, ebay item number 234927942157 shows a sold price of 31.20 Candian and when I go to send the invoice the order details say 23.29 Canadian.
There is no shipping added yet and I did not send or accept an offers for these prices.

One euro is 68c Cnd.
You can use Google Translate or Babelfish to change the language to English. Clumsy but useable.
tuckhouse2021
OP2 years agoThe currency is in Canadian funds and no shipping has been applied to either order. Other than the German title that was added everything else is in Canadian funds
tuckhouse2021
OP2 years agoNo I have not sent offers and the German titles are not related to my items.
Item 234902508372 was sold for Can 31.85 but when I go to the invoice the price is now 23.77.
Item 234927942157 was sold for Can 31.20 and when I go to send the invoice it has been changed to 23.29
No shipping was included in either.

·2 years agoDo you have a link to the .com discussion? It might help to understand what is going on, Also, good you post a couple of the item numbers that were sold.
Are you saying that the pics on the invoice request are blurry? You should be able to do a screenshot and cover the personal info. When you add the pic to your post you are given the option of changing the size. The buyer might have purchased on the German site though I don't recall seeing the title of a listing ion .ca being changed to another language. Buy then I rarely sell overseas.
