Buyer says Item arrived damaged but didn't want to show photos a asking for return/refund Help pls | Selling

Hello, I need your help with a difficult case . I sold a cello for €8500, and the buyer says it arrived broken. He's opened a return but is only demanding a refund of €900. And he says he will keep the Cello .I told him to send me photos of the damage and then I will refund him the €900.But he then wrote to me that he had already taken the cello to a violin maker for restoration (within one day).I offered him a refund of €700 just to resolve the situation; I don't want any trouble. But now he says he wants €1500. and he told that he spoke to eBay and they confirmed that €1500 is appropriate. I don't believe him. How can eBay assess something like this without photos or an expert opinion? I think he's lying. What can I do? Will I lose my money and the cello too how you think ebay will decide ?
